 FCS HPE Program

Mission  The Furlow Charter School (FCS) Health and Physical Education Program is to develop healthy and physically educated students. Students will obtain knowledge that will provide those students to live a healthy and productive life. FCS K-8 curriculum will provide students with a foundation for an active and healthy environment.

Vision  Vision: Our vision is for students to practice healthy and active lifestyles that will prepare students for success.

K-5 th Curriculum  Students will learn different aspects of Physical Education which will include teaching health topics (food pyramid, personal hygiene, staying healthy)  We will focus on the Five Components of Health: Muscular Strength and Endurance, Flexibility, Cardiovascular Strength, and Body Composition  Students will also participate in the Presidential Fitness Testing (Scores record for 3 rd - 5 th Grade) and SLOs testing

6 th -8 th Curriculum  Students will learn different aspects of Physical Education which will include teaching health topics (food pyramid, personal hygiene, staying healthy)  Students will also learn different team sports which they will learn the rules, gameplay, and strategy of the games.  Students will take have a health lesson every fourth (4 th ) week of the school year.  Students will also have one major project to complete in the spring semester.  Students will also turn in a sports article every Friday with a synopsis of the article ( 1 paragraph).
