What is the Neighborhood and Community Sustainability Grant? Encourage residents to work collaboratively and creatively. Maximum $2500 per year. A competitive grant for eligible applicants. Ways to improve the environmental health of our neighborhoods, and ultimately, our community. No project will have vested rights to future funding. 100% Match required.

Grant Requirements The primary and secondary contact, as listed on the application must attend grant training provided by the LFUCG. A representative of the community or organization receiving the grant must attend the grant announcements. All grant recipients that are subject to an audit must submit a copy of their latest annual audit to the Division of Environmental Policy. If a grant recipient is unable to complete the project, the grant fund will revert back to LFUCG.

Who are Eligible applicants? All Fayette County Neighborhood and Homeowner associations that are incorporated and have a complete slate of elected officers.

Projects must meet the following criteria Must directly enhance the environmental quality of some aspect of the neighborhood or the city as a whole. Must relate to sustainability principles. Must be nonprofit in nature. Must have lasting and/or direct benefit to the neighborhood or city. Must be within the City's legal authority and be an improvement for the public benefit. The recipient must provide back-up reporting documentation to the City as proof of program expenditures. The project must be located in Fayette County.

What are Eligible projects? The removal of illegal dumps

Non-registered contractors cannot obtain building permits and are subject to work stoppage for non-compliance.

Environmental Restoration Environmental restoration work includes: Planting trees, shrubs and groundcover, including design of native plant landscapes Erosion control Removal of weeds Revegetation of disturbed areas Reintroduction of native species

Water Quality Improvement Projects Enhancements may also include improved water quality and achieving a self-sustaining, functional flow regime in the stream system that does not require periodic human intervention or construction of flood control structures. reduced stream bank erosion

In-kind Services or Cash Match Those of a specialty nature (plumber, electrician, etc.) or professional (architect, engineer, attorney, etc.) nature, the generally accepted market rate shall be used without consideration given to the firm or company position of the individual. If the services are more physical in nature, (general clean-up, planting shrubs, mowing, etc.), the value given to the labor shall be the same as the federal minimum wage. Cash Match (note Funding from other government sources may not be used as cash match share.)
