THE CHUBBIEST ANIMAL IN THE WORLD

WHAT DO PANDAS LOOK LIKE?WHAT DO PANDAS LOOK LIKE?WHAT DO PANDAS LOOK LIKE?WHAT DO PANDAS LOOK LIKE?  PANDAS ARE RARE ANIMALS WITH BLACK AND WHITE FUR.  THEY LOOK LIKE GIANT TEDDY BEARS WITH THICK FUR COATS OF ARMOR.  THE AVERAGE ADULT PANDA WEIGHS ABOUT 350 LB.

WHAT DO PANDAS LOOK LIKE? CONTINUED  IF THE AVERAGE ADULT STANDS ON ITS HIND LEGS IT IS ABOUT 5.5 FT. TALL.  THEY HAVE VERY BIG PAWS WITH STRONG CLAWS.  PANDAS HAVE A BONE ON EACH PAW INSTEAD OF A THUMB. THIS HELPS THEM GRAB THINGS.  GROWN PANDAS HAVE 42 TEETH WITH STRONG MOLARS.

HOW DO PANDAS MATE?  PANDA’S MATING PERIOD STARTS IN APRIL.  FEMALES WILL RUB THEMSELVES ON A TREE.  ALL THE MALES IN THE AREA WILL COME TO THAT TREE.  IF A MALE SEES A POSSIBLE MATE HE WILL BARK, WHINE, AND HOWL FOR HER ATTENTION.

HOW DO PANDAS MATE? CONTINUED  IF THE FEMALE AGREES THEY WILL MATE.  IF SHE SEES A DIFFERENT MATE THE MALES WILL FIGHT UNTIL DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY.  WHEN THE FEMALE FINDS THE RIGHT MATE NEW PANDA LIFE WILL COME.

WHAT ARE SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT BABY PANDAS?  MOTHER PANDAS WILL FIND A HOLLOW TREE TO LIVE IN AND LINE IT WITH BRANCHES.  IT TAKES ABOUT 4.5 MONTHS FOR A CUB TO BE BORN.  WHEN A CUB IS BORN HE/SHE IS MOSTLY PINK WITH A LITTLE WHITE FUR.

WHAT ARE SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT YOUNG PANDAS? CONTINUED  THE NEWBORN IS BARELY 6 IN LONG.  THEY WEIGH ABOUT THE SAME WEIGHT AS A SMALL ORANGE. This is what a baby panda looks like when he/she is born.

HOW DO PANDAS EAT?  3:00 AM IS WHEN THE PANDA IS HUNGRY.  IT CAN TAKE ALL DAY UNTIL THEY ARE FULL.  ADULT PANDAS EAT LB. OF FOOD EACH DAY.

HOW DO PANDAS EAT? CONTINUED  PANDAS EAT BAMBOO.  THERE IS A LOT OF WATER IN BAMBOO.  SO THEY DON’T HAVE TO DRINK MUCH.

WHY ARE PANDAS ENDANGERED?  IN 1980 THE CHINESE GOVERNMENT AND WORLD LIFE FUND MADE A PROGRAM TO TRY AND SAVE THEM.  ABOUT 1,000 PANDAS ARE LEFT.  ABOUT 900 PANDAS ARE LIVING IN THE WILD.

WHY ARE PANDAS ENDANGERED? CONTINUED  HUNTERS WILL KILL PANDAS FOR THEIR VALUABLE FUR.  ALL PANDAS ARE OWNED BY CHINA.  SO OUR COUNTRY CAN’T HELP THEM.
