China Giant Panda Habitat
One estimate shows that there are about 1,590 individuals living in the wild. 49 giant pandas live in captivity outside China, living in 18 zoos in 13 different countries. The giant panda lives in a few mountain ranges in central China, mainly in Sichuan province, but also in neighbouring provinces, namely Shaanxi and Gansu.

Panda Habitat The giant panda typically lives around 20 years in the wild and up to 30 years in captivity. Panda spends its life roaming and feeding in the bamboo forests.

Panda Habits Giant pandas are generally solitary, and each adult has a defined territory, and a female is not tolerant of other females in her range. Social encounters occur primarily during the brief breeding season in which pandas in proximity to one another will gather.

Panda Habits Two of the panda's most distinctive features, its large size and round face, are adaptations to its bamboo diet. Pandas eat any of 25 bamboo species in the wild. Giant pandas in the wild will occasionally eat other grasses, wild tubers, or even birds. In captivity, they may receive honey, eggs, fish, yams, shrub leaves, oranges, or bananas along with specially prepared food.

Baby Pandas When giant pandas are born, they are tiny, blind, and pink, with few hairs. The average weight is 100g. The limbs of newborn pandas are so weak that they are not able to stand at all. For 2 months after birth, baby pandas basically only feed on milk and sleep.

Chengdu Panda Base Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. Chengdu Panda Base was founded in It started with 6 giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 83

Cute Panda The giant panda is an endangered species, threatened by continued habitat loss and habitat fragmentation, and by a very low birth rate, both in the wild and in captivity.

Saving Giant Panda (World Wildlife Fund)
There are about 1600 pandas left on this planet. WWF project is trying to promote people to help protect the pandas’ environment.
