The SkillsActive Offer to NGBs and sport The ‘offer’ to all strands of workforce which drive’s our work with NGBs is based on products and services which the SkillsActive Group has developed over the last 6 years. These include: –Apprenticeship Programmes (including AASE) –Active Passports and research support –Club development packages and CPD for workforce (including volunteers) –Management and leadership training (including for NGB staff) –Coaching (or other) Bursary schemes –Connection to education programmes for recruitment Our role is to seek solutions/funding/brokered training for the sport and provide advice and guidance - in conjunction with the National Skills Academy – delivered through a signed Action Plan with each sport aligned to Grow Sustain Excel and managed by a sport dedicated manager

What does the offer mean to volunteering? Main areas: –Recruitment: of new volunteers linked to educational programmes –Development: of new and existing volunteers –Retention: of volunteers through training and development –Support for those who manage and deploy volunteers (paid or voluntary) Non prescriptive – its about solutions that fit for the sport and complement the work of other national partners – needs driven Driven by the National Occupational Standards where appropriate Connecting sports, where needed to funding, training, guidance through National Skills Academy or sport delivered

Progress January to April and Themes 21 Action Plans in place with NGBs Delivery against agreed outcomes progressing A number of Volunteering actions identified: –Assist in development of volunteer recruitment plan –Establish opportunities to develop apprentice volunteer coordinators –Support development of effective, well trained, motivated and resourced volunteer workforce –Support growth and training in key volunteer roles; coordinators, welfare, officiating –Establish opportunities for clubs to link to education programmes such as Diploma and YA to bring new young people in to clubs as volunteers –Establish a clear volunteer pathway aligned Personal Best, Third Sector partnerships and 2012 related programmes/ opportunities.

What is PB? A programme to engage unemployed adults into Games Time Volunteering through a nationally – accredited Level 1 training programme focusing on event volunteering. What my role entails Identify challenges and resolutions to PB delivery and JCP referrals Support the 8 regions and share best practice across the regions Work across the PB partners (BIS, SFA, RDAs, awarding bodies) Support NGBs and their clubs to connect to PB opportunities How it fits in with our NGB work 2012 is a sports event – must give benefit back to sport Already delivering Personal Best support since January 2009 Excellent regional dynamic and dimension – CSPs, NGBs, provider, NGBs - to build on existing relationship Applying for GTV roles (with LOCOG) Further progression into volunteering, training, employment, Calendar of events for PB completers.
