Optional SATs Year 3 The children do these tests in Literacy and Numeracy at the end of the year. The marks give Levels similar to Keystage 1 and Keystage 2 SATs. You can compare your child’s work with these questions and the necessary reading ability. This will give you a clear indication of your child’s performance.

Ways to help at home encourage learning of tables –10,5,2,4,3 use mathematical language for shapes, coins, length, time, weight and capacity ensure daily reading either from school book or child’s own – information, fact, instruction, comic, poetry, plays, fiction, non fiction help to learn weekly spellings from the high frequency word list and class spellings using spelling practice sheets encourage conversation with explanations and descriptions, information using well constructed sentences, use of ‘how?’, ‘why?’ ensure completion of homework every night
