 I have a hard time getting started studying for a test  When studying for a test, I find many things distract me.  I expect to do poorly on a test no matter how much I study  When taking a test  I experience physical discomfort such as sweaty palms, upset stomach, headache, difficulty breathing, tension in muscles  I find it difficult to understand the directions and questions  I have difficulty organizing my thoughts  I often draw a blank  I find my mind wandering to other things

 Before the exam  Identify common statements that are self defeating I must get an A I always fail anyway This is too hard  Replace these statements with I have studied and I feel confident I will try my best I know the material because I studied

 During the Exam Sit where you can concentrate Bring supplies Relax! Take a minute to laugh before the exam Write down the facts ( dates, etc) READ DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY Don’t spend too much time on one question DO NOT change answers unless you are 99.9% sure it is true If all else fails, DO NOT LEAVE AN ANSWER BLANK, GUESS

 Try not to do too much studying at one time (CRAM)  Plan specific time and place for studying  Set specific goals for study time  Work on the assignment you find the most difficult first
