Feedback on our trailer
Presentation transcript:

Group 1 Group 2 Group 3 Group 4 Group 5 Group 6 After reviewing this groups feedback our trailer came across as a few genres being: Crime, British gangster and also action and the group also rated our film good/very good. In the feedback people were also asked to rate certain elements of the trailer being the narrative, camera work, editing and soundtrack/music. All of these elements were rated very well for my group they said the narrative was intriguing, the camera work was exciting, the editing was clever and the soundtrack was fully complimentary. We also had comments such as for the narrative “Intrigued as to what happens next”, for the camera work “Many different shots used”, for the editing “Variety of skills also used” and also for the soundtrack “Goes with the trailer”. After viewing the trailer they believed our trailer had an age certification rating of 18 which was good for us to see as we were aiming it at people between the ages of 15 and 45. They also thought our trailer was aimed more so at males than it was at females. It also came across as fairly mainstream due to certain elements we used in the trailer and that it was also aimed at both working and middle class people. They thought our trailer was very intriguing and that we used a lot of postmodern elements however they thought it could have been better if we had a clearer more understandable voiceover. Lastly they also said they may view it in a cinema if it were recommended to them by a friend. After reviewing this groups feedback our trailer to them came across as a British gangster/crime film and they thought that the trailer was good. They said our narrative was intriguing and “easy to follow”, that our camera work was exciting and also that our editing was clever and that we used “really clever techniques (whip pans and split screens)” and lastly that our soundtrack/music was fully complimentary and that it “fits well with the editing”. They thought that our film age certification rating was a 15 which once again was good as that was in the range of our target audience. They said that they think our trailer is aimed at both males and females due to the crime element and that it was quite mainstream. They also said that they think it is aimed at both working and middle class people. They liked our film trailer due to the story line and that they really liked the editing, soundtrack, bridging, the plot and also the way we introduced our characters. What they thought wasn’t so great again was the voiceover that we used but said there is nothing to improve on. They lastly said they ‘Maybe’ would go to see the film but would expect to see it on DVD/Netflix. After reviewing this groups feedback the genre was labelled crime/British gangster and had a ‘good’ rating. They said the narrative was intriguing and “offered a unique and different viewing experience for people viewing”, the camera work was exciting and that we had “a very good variety of shots”, the editing was clever and that there was a “good use of the split screen at the end” and the soundtrack/music was fully complimentary and that it was “very postmodern”. They gave it an age certification rating of 15. they said our film looks to be aimed at males due to the amount of British crime added in. also that we would be aimed more at an alternative audience than a mainstream and that it would be aimed at both working and middle class people. They found our trailer gripping and unique and liked the narrative and the postmodern techniques used and also how we used our props effectively. They did however think there were some unnecessary shots used and to improve could brighten up some of our more darker shots as it was made hard to see sometimes due to the bad lighting. They said they would go and see this film in the cinema as well. After reviewing this groups feedback the genre was labelled crime/British gangster and had a ‘good’ rating. They said the narrative was confusing as there were “too many characters”, the camera work was appropriate but sometimes “a bit dark”, the editing was clever and that the “split screen was good” and that the soundtrack was suitable and “held comedic affect”. They believe that our age certification rating would be a 15. They think our audience would be aimed at males “but also appealing to females too”. They said it would be aimed at an alternative audience and at a working class audience. They liked the editing techniques and that it was quite fast paced and had relatable characters and that the title cards were great. They thought that the lighting and the narrative were confusing and that we could improve by making the lighting brighter. They said that they would not go to see the film but would maybe watch if it were on TV. After reviewing this groups feedback they said our genre was a crime film and that the trailer was very good. They said the narrative was intriguing, the camera work was exciting, the editing was clever and again that the soundtrack/music was fully complimentary. This group also gave our film an age certification rating of 15. They said they think it would be aimed at a male and mainstream/both audience(s) and that it would also be aimed at both middle and working class people. The thought our trailer had a good concept and all the elements complimented each other very well and especially liked our postmodern elements. They however were not so keen on the directors commentary and thought it could be made better by having a clearer voiceover that is more understandable. They also said that they would go and see the film at the cinema should a film be made. After reviewing this groups feedback they had a mix of genre ideas for our trailer being crime, thriller and also British gangster and gave it a rating between good and average. They said our narrative was intriguing but at the same time confusing “because it left questioning but at the same time was enthralling”, the camera work was between exciting and appropriate, the editing was “very thoughtful and made it exciting” and that the soundtrack/music was suitable “but wasn’t interesting but clear”. The said our film was aimed at both males and females but more so at males and that it would suit an alternate audience and would be for both working and middle class people. They like all of the postmodern techniques and elements that we used for our trailer and also the editing and narrative structure. They didn’t like the fact the narrative was a bit confusing and thought it could be made better by picking up pace with the soundtracks that we use. They said that they may go and see the film in the cinema.

Target audience Our target audience for our trailer was people aged between years of age. It is useful for media producers to identify who their target audience is going to be and get feedback from their target audience to help them review their products and help them to get a better understanding of things they did well with their products and things that could have been better and the feedback would help a lot more if it is coming from someone within your target audience so you can understand it from that point of view.

Getting feedback from an audience We used a questionnaire to get feedback from other people in our target audience age range who also take media studies. The questionnaire summarised what they thought the genre was, the rating in general, the elements of the trailer, the age certification, the audience its aimed at and also what they liked and what they thought could be done better. All of the feedback we got through the questionnaires was fairly similar in the sense that they all labelled it somewhere between a British gangster/crime/thriller film and the ratings we got were always between very good and 1 was average.
