Welcome to Frontier Middle School’s Physical Education/Health Department. The following policies and procedures have been designed with our student’s health, safety and hygiene in mind. All students are expected to dress appropriately for active and safe participation.

 Be seated in assigned seat (squad).  Be respectful, responsible, cooperative, and safe.  Follow the teacher’s instructions the first time given.  NO GUM or JEWELRY in Physical Education. **Any new piercing must be covered w/ a band aid or tape.

 All valuables need to be LOCKED in their gym lockers. A combination lock will be checked out to each student. A replacement fee of $8.00 will be charged for lost locks.  Lockers belong to the school and can be accessed at any time when necessary.  No purses, binders, coats, or backpacks are allowed due to security reasons. They will not fit in the lockers.  Bring non-spray deodorant and a jewelry container to store in your PE lockers.

 6 th, 7 th & 8 th Grade:  Athletic shoes with laces tied correctly. (NO SANDALS/FLOPS)  PE uniform or change of clothing w/ names written on the outside of shirt and shorts.  In addition, jewelry, rings, watches, earrings or body piercing ornaments are not permitted during activity class. Please lock these items in your gym locker.  6 th Grade: We will be ordering uniforms in 1 st quarter, and WILL NOT be dressing out until they arrive. You will need to wear appropriate clothing for PE class and be prepared to remove any jewelry.

 All notes must be taken to the school nurse at the beginning of the day. The school nurse will notify the Physical Education Dept. if a student is excused. A “Doctor’s note” will excuse a student from participating for the designated dates, a “parent note” for a maximum of three days. Walking for participation is a healthy alternative in most cases. Written assignments will be given if not. Please inform the school nurse of any conditions that you believe may affect your child’s ability to be physically active and participation in class.

 PE: athletic shoes w/ laces tied on top, socks, athletic shorts and t-shirt (school appropriate length) that can have name written on it for identification  HEALTH: notebook, pen, pencil, highlighter, planner  6 th Graders – please bring in:  Boys- one box of Kleenex /or roll of paper towels  Girls- one pack of pencils

 50 points possible daily: 10 pts for Effort/Participation 10 pts for Sportsmanship 10 pts for SAFE & appropriate attire (T-shirt w/ name on it, shorts w/ name on it, athletic shoes tied correctly) 10 pts for Exercises 10 pts for following teacher directions **Improper shoes will result in loss of pts as it impacts your ability to participate safely & complete exercises. It is a component of Safe & appropriate attire.

 First Time: Loss of Points & Warning  Second Time: Loss of Points + Choice: 10 Minute Run, Morning Detention, or After School Detention  Third Time: After School Detention + Parent Contact!

 EXTRA CREDIT & MAKE-UPS:  Every Wednesday morning students may come to the gym hallway and jog for 10 minutes. (This jog can be used for extra credit/make-ups for both PE and Health classes.)  ISS and OSS days that are missed will be made up in the same way.
