Once they have QTS, they can work as a qualified teacher in the UK. The training is tailored to suit their individual needs. Wendy Edwards

Qualifications Needed The equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from a UK bachelor degree. OTTP four-year rule The four-year rule states that overseas trained teachers (OTTs) can teach for up to four years before they must be QTS qualified. If a teacher has not achieved QTS within four years, they can no longer teach. If they wish to continue teaching, they must complete a programme such as a PGCE to gain QTS, or gain employment in an independent school. The four years start from the first day of teaching in a mainstream school in England, and includes any time out of service Wendy Edwards

UK NARIC helps organisations understand more about qualifications from overseas and their recognition. They are the UK's only official source of information on overseas qualifications and education systems. National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC)

Teachers qualified in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States of America From 1 April 2012, teachers who qualified in Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States of America (USA) will be recognised as qualified teachers and awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in England without being required to undertake any further training or assessment.
