4 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
This course is heavily based on your teaching practice and we do not require you to have a degree to join this course. You must however have a recognised qualification to teach your subject, excellent communication skills and the ability to complete written assignments at level 6-7 which is equivalent to first year masters level. 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

6 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
This course runs for one academic year August July 2009 The qualification allows you to teach in FE or adult and community education it does not qualify you to teach in schools You will have a teaching placement in college and teach for 6 hours per week You will spend 2 days a week with the teacher education team 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

7 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
You will complete 8 assignments and produce a portfolio of your work on the course and an ILP Exeter University Web Site To gain the qualification you will need to pass all assignments and successfully complete the practical teaching element of the course 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

8 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
This course is arranged in two parts Part 1 September -December is a practical teaching course Part 2 January -July is the professional development part of the course. 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

9 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
The course is assessed by internally marked and externally moderated assignments There are 8 assignments for this course plus your teaching practice portfolio and an ILP ( individual learning plan) assignment information To gain this qualification you must also pass a minimum of 8 teaching observations 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

10 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
The course starts in August 2008 with a week’s induction. The course finishes in July 2009 Although the course is administered and accredited by Exeter University you will work to Exeter College terms dates which will be published in the course handbook 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

11 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
Your acceptance on this course is dependant on our ability to provide you with a relevant teaching practice of 6 hours per week. You will be allocated a subject specific mentor (whose classes you will be teaching) and a personal tutor. 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

12 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
Teaching observations 8 of your teaching sessions on this course will be observed. 5 of these must be by a tutor on the course, 2 will be by your mentor and 1 from the University of Exeter 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

13 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
COURSE FEES Exeter University charges top up fees of £3070 If eligible, part of this course fee may be paid for by your local education authority If eligible you can obtain a student loan to pay the rest of the fees The government is offering training bursaries for shortage subjects. 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

14 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
COURSE FEES All students accepted on this course must receive a clear CRB check before they start in August. There is a £60 support fee payable to Exeter College to cover the Joint Centre days at the University 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

15 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
How will you be supported on the course ? Teaching is a very tiring and demanding profession At present you are all successful in your situations but when you get into the classroom you are new to the demands This can make you feel very uncomfortable 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

16 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
How will you be supported on the course ? You will need to be very secure in your subject knowledge and have a good idea before you start about the syllabi and assessment methods used within your subject . Many of the students you will be teaching will be taking their first examinations in their subject in January and the teachers whose classes you will be taking will be anxious for their students 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

17 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
How will you be supported on the course ? You will be introduced to your classes in September, then observe your class teachers until October . You will then start to become more and more involved with the teaching and by the end of October we hope you will be taking some classes on your own. Every teaching situation is different and you will be fully supported by your personal tutor and by your teaching mentor. 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE

18 PGCE POST COMPULSORY EDUCATION
What happens next? After your interview we will let you know as soon as possible if we are considering you for a place on the course. We will then contact HOD’s to investigate the possibility of a relevant teaching placement in their department 9/9/2019 PGCE PCE
