Expressing Creativity with Multimedia Technologies BY Kenyetta mcallister

Expressing Creativity with Multimedia Technologies Multimedia Technologies in Schools Today Multimedia Technology Defined Multimedia technology refers to interactive, computer-based applications that allow people to communicate ideas and information with digital and print elements.

Using more than one mode of learning is more effective Multimodal- when teachers combine spoken words with visuals or written text with audio. Studies show that students do better when learning with multimodal designs. Using Presentation software package- Produce slides for visual information displays featuring colorful graphics, pop-up or slide-in windows and other attention grabbing features. Mutimedia tools- Digital Projector - projects images from a computer to a larger screen. A Graphic Design Process of arranging type and images to communicate information visually.

Next Generation Presentation Tools This Multimedia is used to differentiate the ways information is presented to students. The presentation of material using pictures and words together. Combining multiple medias, like text, data, voice, picture and video, in a single application of technology. Uses words and pictures as well as sound, voice, video and animation to present educational ideas and info in creative, engaging, and memorable ways. Pictures consist of photographs, graphs, charts, illustration, video material, and other video material.

The Traditional yet effective classroom standard -Words are materials in terms of spoken and printed texts. -Noncomputer Technology Classroom: Chalkboard Photocopies of material Overhead projector and screen Television with VCR Does Technology engage students in learning?

Computer Technology Classroom Consist of: Interactive white board, computers with internet, digital projector and screen, digital voice recorders and cameras/camcorders. Three advantages have been found regarding technology in the classroom including: Educators should use technology in the classroom because its wide range of uses and forms has the potential to reach students of all learning styles, as well as be more efficient. The interest and motivation that technology induces in students makes its usage in schools important. Educators better prepare students for the future when using technology aimed at addressing each learning style. Using several types of technology in one lesson can help everyone.

Technology offers new and exciting ways for their families to increase their involvement in their children's education: 1. Students watch less television 2. Improve problem-solving and critical thinking skills 3. Improve their writing and math skills 4. Improve their computer skills Some educational websites for kids: National Geographic Kids Yahoo Kids PBS Kids National Geographic Little Kids

Why Use Technology in The Classroom?
