Fire Prevention What to use if a fire starts in your house: –Fire extinguishers Place a fire extinguishers in the kitchen, bathroom, and work area. Purchase a generic type of extinguisher. Only use the extinguisher on small fires.

Infant Safety Causes of Infant Death –Choking –Infant Mortality –SIDS Choking –If a child begins to choke and can not cry or cough Give five back blows Turn over and give five chest thrusts.

Infant Safety Infant Mortality –The death of a baby within the first year of life. –Leading causes are Dehydration and Disease. Review SIDS –Also known as crib death,SIDS occurs in infants that are 1 month to 1 year old. –Potential risk factors include: Smoke exposure Poor prenatal care

CPR What is CPR? –Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency first aid procedure used for cardiac arrest victims.

CPR How you perform CPR? –CPR can be performed in 4 steps. 1.Check for response in the victim. 2.If breathing is irregular call 911 and tilt the head back and give two 1 second breaths. 3.Press down on chest 30 times. 4.Repeat until normal breathing resumes or medical care arrives.
