Vocabulary  16th Amendment: the US can institute an income tax  17th Amendment: direct election of senators  18th Amendment: ban the sale and consumption of alcohol  19th Amendment: women’s right to vote  20th Amendment: presidency shall end on January 20 th  Clayton Anti-Trust Act: outlaw monopolies

Vocabulary  direct primary elections: candidates have to be elected before they can run  Division of Forestry: new division of the government to protect the forests and nature  Federal Reserve Act: granted authority to issue the US dollar  initiative, voter: voters can now go ahead and try to create a new law  Interstate Commerce Act: designed to regulate the railroad industry and end corruption
