Oxygen carbon dioxide The respiratory system is the system of the body that deals with breathing. When we breath, the body takes in the oxygen it needs.
 The respiratory system uses many parts for breathing in oxygen and releasing carbon dioxide.  These include the nose, the trachea, and the lungs.

Respiratory System By: Zain Alsein and Michael Golden

Introduction The purpose of the respiratory system is to control the human’s breathing process, which allow humans to inhale and exhale inhaling oxygen and exhaling carbon dioxide.

Parts and Organs Lungs Nose Mouth Trachea (windpipe) Pharynx

How the System Works… To breathe, humans inhale by putting air into their body from the mouth or nose, when humans inhale their diaphragm moves down giving the lungs room to grow with air. The air goes down the trachea into the lungs.

How the System Works… Once human inhale, they must exhale. When a human exhales it’s the exact opposite. Carbon Dioxide travels back up the trachea and out of the mouth or nose, this time, it is the diaphragm that needs room to expand, not the lungs, which have to now move.

How the System Works… The human respiratory system is pretty much about the exchange of gases, because when they inhale oxygen enters their body, but when they exhale carbon dioxide leaves your body. It switches off.

Interactions With Other Systems The respiratory interacts also with the digestive system, because they use the mouth and pharynx to both swallow, and breath through the mouth. Also, the respiratory system interacts with the circulatory system because the compounds being brought into your body, and the circulatory system moves the blood throughout the body.
