Knowledge Management and sharing of best practices A & NZ Public Administration The Openray Platform EU Technical Workshop Brussels

2

At present, the most time consuming task in using existing applicable and contextual guidelines and plans from across the sector ‘is finding them’. In many instances, the supporting documentation exists but it is difficult to find. PRIORITY 1 Knowledge Exchange 3

It is highly resource intensive for governments to analyse, trial and test technologies at sufficient scale in a holistic, comprehensive and sustainable way. There is no existing multi-jurisdictional capability to undertake this role on their behalf. With full visibility of the business, legal, technical and cultural frameworks which are necessary for common solutions to be widely implemented, the OTF will facilitate these activities. Regardless of the outcome, the knowledge gleaned from the process will be available in the Knowledge Exchange so that others can use it or build upon it. Share Effort and Solutions PRIORITY 2 4

Look at available options - Govdex 5 Communities must be sponsored (owned) by a government agency, though any agency, organisation or individual can participate.

Joinup / Openray Platform Sharing Joinup meets our requirements for Knowledge Exchange Share effort and solutions International alignment An example of what can be achieved by: building international networks sharing and re-use Openray is in pilot until officially endorsed by OTF Board Dec ‘13 6

Openray platform challenges / next steps Content dilemma... Need to stabilise environment – federated repositories; public flag Merging code changes up to Joinup Enabling the software forge and SVN / Webdav features Joinup is a mature program / we are starting out 7

Joinup / ISA – future considerations Continue to play a pivotal leadership role Keep building the federation of assets – with key regional platforms OTF can aggregate for A & NZ and make available to Joinup All work to promote opportunities to other regions **** Public administration ePractice sharing and re-use... *** underpinned by key principles – open standards, interoperable, shareable 8
