The Tail, this is what we want to make. Extrude Mirror Radius

Open the body of the plane

Go to assembly Open new part in context

Zoom out using shift - H Zoom in on the tail using Shift - Z

Select the base workplane using the workplane selector. Click twice quickly on the workplane

Click on create new sketch in the workplane drop down menu. Call the sketch tail and make sure the filled box is ticked, make sure its on the base workplane.

Start by drawing a straight line using the straight line tool. Make sure the line isn’t selected (Red) and use the curved line tool to draw a curve. If it draws the wrong way press delete and start at the other end. Adjust it by selecting it (it will go red) moving along it to the end handle and dragging them.

Adjust the size of the curve by clicking on it to select the curve then dragging its centre portion in and out with the arc handle

Finish the shape with another three lines. Start each one where the last one finished. This will be shown by a small black square. Join the shape up with the last line, the shape should fill with colour. If it doesn’t the shape has a gap or a stray line. Use zoom (Shift – Z) to find it. Delete it using the cut tool if it is stray or select the line and join it up if there is a gap NB, did you click the fill box when you created the new sketch? Check by selecting the line selector and double clicking on one line to see the box again.

Use the line tool to draw another line along the inside edge

Reposition the line by selecting it then clicking and holding the handles at the ends of the line moving the ends. The line should lie exactly on the inside edge. The fill will disappear

From the line menu select mirror. Make sure lines option is selected. Select all the lines which make up the tail shape by dragging a box round them when the shape selector is selected. Click and drag to do this.

Select the axis menu and click on the last line you drew. Make sure the shape selector is selected. Click on o.k.

Remove all the middle line bits using the cut tool until the shape fills (there are three lines on top of each other and two small outer sections)

Rotate the view to look onto the drawing using the arrows.

Extrude the sketch upwards by putting 2 mm in the distance box, make sure add material is selected.

Rotate the drawing to see the front edges. Select the smallest edges using the edge selector. Click on the first edge then press and hold shift so you can select the second one as well.

Select round edges Use the yellow handles to radius the corners

Save the final tail to the plane file.
