Assignment D6

 CURVES include lines and arcs  A PROFILE is a closed region made up of curves  When you have trouble with a sketch that you can’t extrude, it’s because it isn’t a complete profile

 Start a new METRIC part  Turn visibility on  Make a new sketch on the XY plane  Make sure the cube in the top right is flipped right side up

 We are going to draw this in a very specific way.  The exact placement doesn’t matter  But it’s location in reference to the XY axes does matter  Don’t worry about measurement now  Start in the top left quadrent, and draw the shape shown. Make sure the points wind up in the correct quadrant.

 Add a CENTER POINT CIRCLE that is in quadrant one of Arbitrary Size  Arbitrary Size = Size doesn’t matter

 Add a line that is Coincident to the circle - See the how the coincident box pops up on my drawing?  It should also be coincident to the bottom line

 Edit Sketch by dragging the CENTER POINT of circle up and to the right.  The circle will automatically change size because it need to keep constrained to the diagonal line

 Drag the lines and points of your sketch around so that it looks approximately like mine  You can move lines by click on them  End points can also be moved  For the circle you can move the edge and the center point

 We are going to add a couple constraints  The first is a measurement constraint, DO NOT CHANGE THE NUMBER YOU GET  This is still a rough sketch

 Add a tangent constraint between the circle and the diagonal line

 Trim and Extend are used to the shorten/lengthen an object. This will help you make profiles.  Use extend to bring the top line over to the circle

 Use TRIM to lop off the extra in the bottom right corner

 Add a vertical dimension between the center of the circle and the top line.  Change the dimension to 0 so they are aligned

 Add the dimensions shown, again, don’t worry about the size, just the fact that they exist  Trim the circle

 Add the four 2mm fillets shown

 Add a fix constraint to the center of the arc, once you add this your drawing will be fully constrained

 Change the measurements to the ones shown  Since the drawing is fully constrained, it shouldn’t get all weird when you finish changing them

 Finish the sketch  Extrude it 5mm

 Create a new sketch on the front surface of the shape.

 Click offset, then click the edge of the shape and move your mouse towards the center of the object

 Add a dimension between the original and the offset profile and set it to 15

 Finish the sketch  Cut out the interior  And your done, save your work as  D6-Gasket  You have 3 exercises to go with this assignment, ask me for them
