3 + Graduation Requirement? In grade 9, did you push off something like science, etc. in order to fit something else in? If you answered yes to this question, it is your responsibility to remind us to place that requirement back on your schedule for next year! In grade 9, did you fail a class required for graduation? You may want to consider taking a summer school course to make up this credit!

5 + NCAA Clearinghouse (Page 7) Students interested in playing sports at the collegiate level must take specific high school courses and be able to maintain a minimum GPA When choosing classes, check the approved courses on page 7 Make sure you have met the 16 Core Course requirement on page 7 Approved courses indicated in description guide by NCAA symbol

6 + School Counseling Handbook Use the 10th Grade courses-at-a-glance box on page 9 to see what is offered Once you have picked a course, read about the course in the Course Description section which begins on page 12 Using your registration form, check to see if you have met the necessary prerequisite requirements How do I use this thing?

8 + Read about the course! Is this what I want to learn? Have I taken the correct pre-requisite class? Did I make the qualifying grade?

9 + Completing the Pre-Registration Form You will have 1.5 lines to complete on your registration form Semester classes are denoted by a  on page 9 It takes 2 semester classes to fill one line It takes 1 year long class to fill one line

15 + Driver’s Education (Page 15) Prior to enrolling in Driver Ed at CM, students must earn a minimum of 4 credits over the previous 2 semesters and pass the required courses for graduation (State Law & Board Policy) $270 fee (Subject to change $250 + $20 permit) If you plan to take driver’s Education in your sophomore year at CMHS, please list it as a semester elective. You must be 15 by the first day of the semester in which you wish to take Driver’s Ed.

16 + Alternate Courses Alternate choices are used when your first choice is unable to schedule Not enough interest in a course--results in the course being cancelled Too much interest in a course--results in some students being removed from the class Scheduling conflict--course meets at the same time as another requested course Alternate choices should be listed in preferential order

17 + New Courses Technical Advance Algebra An option to Algebra 2 for students who struggled with Algebra 1 and Geometry. Teacher directed placement of students Early Childhood Education

18 + Old Course with Minor Changes Music Appreciation will still be offered at CM; however no dual credit will be awarded through Lewis & Clark

20 + Schedule Changes The deadline for making changes to your course selection is on or before April 1, 2016. No changes will be made after this time unless initiated by a teacher/administrator. Students will not be allowed to drop a year-long elective at semester without a parent conference with an administrator.

21 + Course Change Form Forms needed to change a course for the 2016/17 school year are available in the School Counseling Office and are linked to the School Counseling Office webpage!

22 + Registration Timeline You will take a Pre-registration form with you today--complete it before February 3 rd. (Share this process with your parents.) The counselors will be available before/after school and during lunch to answer any questions you may have about classes or completing the form or you can wait to set up a meeting with us after registration. We will return to your English class on either February 3 rd & 4 th to collect your forms and to answer any brief questions you may have. The more time you put into your class choices….the happier you will be in your classes next year!
