2 Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence Adult Education Teacher Preparation Standards  First standards adopted by the Commission in 1993.  Program guidelines used before that time.

3 Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence Advisory Panel   April 2008-CTC expert advisory panel to update program standards and credentials   Panel included local program, CSU, UC, ACSA, CSBA, CTA, & CFT representatives.

4 Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence Panel Results  Draft requirements and standards presented to the Commission for information only in March 2009  Field surveyed summer 2009

5 Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence Field Survey Results  Over 250 responders: teachers, administrators, credential analysts, program specialists, teacher educators  All draft standards and credential recommendations support by the majority of responders (more than 50%).

8 Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence Current Program Requirements  Part-time = 6 units/90 hours teacher preparation  Full-time = 9 units/135 hours teacher preparation  Completed over 5 years

9 Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence Proposed Program Requirements  Full-time = 6 units/90 hours teacher preparation  + Early orientation (approx. 20 hours)  + Supervision and support 3 units/45 hours  Completed over 3 years

10 Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence Credential Recommendations  Program sponsors responsible for credential recommendations (accreditation)  Programs may partner with employers to recommend with an MOU

11 Commission on Teacher Credentialing Ensuring Educator Excellence CTC Grandparenting Policy  Those who hold a current document will not be effected  Those who wish to convert to a broader subject authorization may do so
