4 2014 Accomplishments Introduced role of Executive Director. Partnership with White Rock South Surrey Skating Club, including introduction of shared admin role, Suzanne Cyr. Successful 2013 Christmas tourney. Continued partnership with Surrey Eagles - great to see 12 Semi Alumni in the Eagles lineup. 2014 Skills Camp featuring Ron Davidson - most successful camp to date with 291 registrants. Boston Pizza Coach Symposium featuring, Ron Davidson, Mike Pickles, Glen Gulutzan, and Tim Preston. Second year using Hockey Canada rep selection process – learning to be applied into next year. 2014 Annual General Meeting Semiahmoo Minor Hockey 4

5 2014 Accomplishments 16 rep teams in place this year. Introduced consistent approach to player development with Tim Preston and IHD. Increased goalie training program to include Atom goalies. Semiahmoo Hockey Development series for players of all abilities. Cross ice hockey at South Surrey for Hockey 1 and introduced initiation pond hockey series. Second annual alumni game. 5 th year of the Respect in Sport program in Hockey 4 – fully funded by Canadian Tire. 7 The Big Picture Hockey Canada Level Concern at the national level that hockey participation is declining. Issues around cost, safety, and demographics. Local Level Lower Mainland participation is declining but SEMI is holding strong. 8 A Shifting Focus 2014 Annual General Meeting Semiahmoo Minor Hockey 8 Expectations are increasing and are more diverse every season. Experience of our first year players will be dramatically different every year and are changing more rapidly. Of our 64 teams, 48 of them are C hockey - our board continues to focus on improving the value provided by all hockey programs and in particular, our C program. Construction of our board, and specifically, Directors will be reviewed to better manage longer term development opportunities.

Other local associations with staff- Coq, North Van, West Van, Hollyburn, Ridge Meadows, Burnaby, Vancouver minor, N. Delta, S. Delta, and Richmond (2)

11 Arena Update 2014 Annual General Meeting Semiahmoo Minor Hockey 11 Continue to look for options to improve our shortage of local ice. City of Surrey pre-election platform included promises for additional ice surfaces within our catchment. We, as an Association, do have resources to invest and/or partner with outside sources. 50 th Anniversary Next year marks our 50 th Anniversary as a hockey association. Volunteers needed to create a 50 th Anniversary committee.
