5 1. Encourage your child to play sports, but don’t pressure. Let your child choose to play—and to quit—if he or she wants. 2. Understand what your child wants from sports, and provide a supportive atmosphere for achieving these goals. 3. Set limits on your child’s participation. Don’t make sport everything in your child’s life; make it a part of life. 4. Turn your child over to the coach at practices and games— don’t meddle or coach from the sidelines. 5. Make sure the coach is qualified to guide your child through the sport experience. 6. Keep winning in perspective, and help your child do the same. 7. Help your child set challenging but realistic performance goals rather than focusing only on “winning the game.” 8. Help your child understand the valuable lessons sports can teach. 9. Help your child meet responsibilities to the team and to the coach. 10. Supply the coach with information on any allergies or special health conditions your child has.

7  New program and times –  All programs start 9/8/12  U8 (2 nd grade) 7:45-9:00; 30 mins skills* 45mins game play  U7 (1 st grade) 8:30-9:30; 30 mins skills* 30mins game play  U6 (Kindergarten) 9:15-10:15; 30 mins skills* 30 mins game play  Pre-K Kickers 10:00-11:00 Saturdays; Tues/Wed 9:00-10:00 The main objective of the program is for children to have fun playing soccer in an organized program, while also learning soccer skills, teamwork, etc. Boys and girls in all age groups are on separate teams. The program consists of an 8-week regular season. *Skills portion will be run by professional coaches from PT USA

8  Player Assignments to Teams We make every effort to place players with like experience and skill level together while balancing school grade and roster size.  Coach Evaluations  Age Group Meeting  Coaches assigned after teams are made  Team Placement in South Shore Soccer League (SSSL)

9  PT USA – Chris Jackson  Assist travel coaches with 2 practices per team per season  Observe 1 game per team per season  Serve as Director of Player and Coach Development  Coaches meeting held 8/30/2012  Clinics to train coaches - 1 to 2 per season  Coaches licensure courses offered by HYS/MYSA  G course 9/9/2012

10  September 10-13, 2012  Try-Outs will be run by PT USA  Future changes: tryouts will be moved to the spring (May/June) to determine teams for the following Fall and Spring season

11 Coach Evaluations Dribbling, Passing, Receiving, Shooting, Game Sense, Positioning, Spacing, Attitude, Commitment, Fitness Graded based on overall peer performance Try Out Evaluations Run and Evaluated by professional coaches Age Group Meeting Compile and analyze results Obtain input from all current and prior coaches in age group *Note* Previous team placement does not guarantee placement on a similar team in following seasons

13  Coaches are volunteers; keep communication constructive  Follow the “48 Hour” rule before drafting an e- mail or placing that phone call  Seek feedback and be open minded when you receive it
