3 models of teaching   There is not one model of teaching that fits every student, every teacher, or every person. As unique as each person is, so is their learning style. That is why I believe there is not one model for teaching that will benefit every student in our school. As a teacher I must be flexible and versatile. I am a logical/mathematical learner. It is fair to say that I probably will not always get a classroom full of students who are also logical/mathematical learners. I get to teach the students new skills, and share different perspectives with them. I think the model of teaching this school should implement is a diverse model of teaching. This is a teaching strategy where students are taught the same skill in a number of different learning styles so they each have a chance to learn and master the skill in a way they are confident in. The teachers in our school need to be willing to learn as much from our students as they are planning to teach to them. Allowing the students to problem solve without telling them what to do will help them build critical thinking skills that will benefit them for their entire lives. We are teaching these students about life not just how to read, write, and do math. We need to teach them how to think, process, and solve problems on their own.

4 role students play in the learning process
Students are everything in the learning process! The learning process teaches students… Problem Solving Critical Thinking Teamwork Utilizing Resources How to Research Patience Communication

5 building an inclusive professional learning community
Every student is equally important in a classroom. They each bring their own individual skills, style, and ideas to everything we do as a class and independently. Providing every student with the supplies and resources they need to ‘level the playing field’ with their classmates is an essential part of building an inclusive learning community. Those supplies could be anything from extra pencils or an iPad to help them with the dictionary application. Resources that are needed could range from a laptop with the SOLO program to help with reading and writing to a wiggle seat and some play dough to keep them focused. As the teacher it is not my job to demand the same exact thing from each of my students. As a teacher it is my job to make sure my students have everything they need to be successful in our classroom, their community, and their lives. Teaching students how to access, or ask for, the things that will help them learn is a great thing for a teacher to teach!
