1 Global knowledge How many countries can you name? Canada, USA, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Belize, Jamaica, Haiti, Brazil, France, Portugal, Germany, Russia, India, China, Spain, etc. Do you know where they are? Canada, USA, and Mexico are in North America. Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Belize are in Central America. Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, and Brazil are in South America. Puerto Rico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica are in the Caribbean Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, and Russia are in Europe. Part of Russia, India, and China are in Asia.

2 More :  Spanish comes from Latin. Latin.  It developed in Spain which is in Europe. Spain which is in Europe.  Latin used to be spoken in Rome, Italy which is also in Europe. in Rome, Italy which is also in Europe.  Italian, Portuguese, and French also come from LATIN.  The Arabic language had its origin in the MEDITERRANEAN area. about 4 th century. A.D.  There are many countries that speak Spanish in the American Continent.  What countries do not speak Spanish?  A. Canada  B. Most of USA  C. Belize  D. Jamaica  E. Haiti  F. Brazil

3 More………………………………  There are many cities OUTSIDE the USA mainland that speak Spanish.  Madrid  Santiago  Buenos Aires  Bogotá  Asunción  San José  Montevideo  Which is the most POPULOUS country in the world is ? CHINA.  The next country with the most people is INDIA.  USA follows with a large population.  Then comes the INDONESIA.  Also with a lot of people comes BRAZIL, but it has less than the others.

9 How about FRENCH influence?  The state of Louisiana has a great French influence in our society.  The state of New Hampshire  The state of Vermont  The state of Maine  The city of New Orleans in Louisiana  The city of Montpelier, which the capital of Vermont.  The city of Augusta which is the capital of Maine.  The city of Concord which is the capital of New Hampshire.

10 Why are these states and cities influenced by French?  The main reason is that they are close to the province of  Quebec, Canada where French is spoken as an official language.  Remember, they do speak English also. It is a Bilingual province.  Remember, Louisiana was bought from the French in the 1800s.
