1. Mrs. Suarez’s 2 nd Grade Class

2. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I have 15 years of teaching experience. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in TESOL. I am married, have a 4 year old daughter named Leah, and am expecting my second daughter this November!

3. This is the time that students are to: -copy their homework from the board -Turn in homework folders -turn in signed letters/money due - complete their morning work It is important to arrive on time in order to not fall behind in class.

4. Homework is collected on a daily basis. Students who turn in all homework may participate in breakfast club or receive rewards at the end of the month. Homework assignments reflect what we’re doing in class. Homework may randomly be collected for a grade. Please empty out folder on a weekly basis.

5. We have incorporated a daily behavior chart to monitor behavior in our class. Our goal is to keep our fireflies in the lantern. Rewards: Stickers, treats, HW passes, free computer time. Consequences: Verbal Warning/ Note home/privilege taken away/referral

6. Students will receive 1 weekly math, science, and social studies grade, 2 reading grades, and 2 language arts grades. Fridays are usually test days. (Thursdays if Friday is early release.) Grades may also be taken any other day from classwork.

7. 100-90 = A 89-80 = B 79-70 = C 69-60 = D 59 and below = F Grades are will be available online the week following the tests.

8. Absences/tardies will not be excused and a zero will be given on that day’s graded assignments if a note is not turned in. (Vacations are not considered excused). Referrals: 3 + unexcused absences 10 + unexcused tardies 10 excused absences 5 early pick ups Any student that receives 3 referrals will not be able to attend Mater Academy the following school year.

10. Students must wear their uniform everyday (shirts tucked in) unless otherwise notified. On cold days, students may only wear a dark green jacket or sweater and hunter green pants. Undershirts must be plain white. On Fridays students may wear jeans for $1.00 when notified.

11. Emphasis will be placed on the FCAT this year. Additional information will be given at FCAT Parent night.

12. 30 hours total per household Chaperoning field trips, donating classroom supplies, or buying gift certificates 1 hour is given for each dollar spent (include receipts !) Parents must register online to volunteer Volunteer in our Classroom!
