April 18 th Evolve eCommerce/Registration Release

Enhancements Releasing This Week! Ability to Pre-Order eProducts New Process for CourseID Requirements for Pre-Orders Changes to CourseID Requirements for Evolve eCommerce Custom Packages Improvements to Customer Messaging about Billing Instructor Pre-orders Improvements to Enrollment process associated with multiple course instances Discounted prices displayed in search results The following slides include screen shots of what you can expect to see on Evolve after the release, but please keep in mind these are mock-ups based on “fake” product data and are not going to be included on the live site.

Ability to Pre-Order eProducts Students will now have the ability to preorder electronic products, not just hardgoods. These include all electronic product types sold on Evolve: Resources, Pageburst, Online Courses, Adaptive Products, Simulations, etc... Pre-published products will appear on Evolve within 6 months of the publication date (same timeframe as hardgoods.) Customer Credit Cards will not be billed for any preorders until the product publishes (just like the current process for hardgoods.)

Upon publication and fulfillment, the electronic product will appear in the customer’s “My Evolve” Content List automatically. Status of the pre-order can be found in the customer’s Order History in their Evolve account or by clicking “looking for back-ordered items” in their Content List.

New Process for CourseID Requirements for Pre-Orders Because a CourseID can not be provided to an instructor until a product has published, students who want to buy a Pre-Ordered item will not be prompted to enter a CourseID when they add the product to their shopping cart.

New Process for CourseID Requirements for Pre-Orders Many products currently have two buttons – one for instructor- led courses with a CourseID and one for self-study

New Process for CourseID Requirements for Pre-Orders Notice – You’ll now see one button for preorders, not two Published titles will still have two buttons

New Process for CourseID Requirements for Pre-Orders Upon publication of the e-product and fulfillment to the “My Evolve” Content list, the product will still not be able to be accessed. The customer will be prompted the first time they try to access the product with new buttons to either enter their course ID, or where applicable – choose to enter the self-study version.

New Process for CourseID Requirements for Pre-Orders Products that can only be accessed with a CourseID like SimChart will have one button. Products that can be accessed either way, like resources or online courses will have two options.

Changes to CourseID Requirements for Evolve eCommerce Custom Packages Students who purchase an Evolve eCommerce Custom Package that includes a product that requires a CourseID – like SimChart, HESI Case Studies, etc... will still receive a prompt at the time they add the package to their cart to provide their CourseID. Products that can be used either self-study or instructor- led (like adaptive or online courses) will be assumed to be instructor-led, so the student will also be prompted for a CourseID. Resources will be assumed to be self-study and should not receive a prompt. If the student is asked for a CourseID and they don’t have it or don’t know it, they will now be able to choose to “enter later.”

Changes to CourseID Requirements for Evolve eCommerce Custom Packages

From there, the process is similar to the process for CourseIDs that was described earlier with Preorders... The students will be prompted upon first use from within their Content List to provide the CourseID.

Changes to CourseID Requirements for Evolve eCommerce Custom Packages Important: we will be assuming that if you enter an ISBN in the salesforce system for an adaptive product or online course that can be used both instructor-led and self-study, that it will be used as INSTRUCTOR-LED. If you need that product to be added as a SELF- STUDY product, YOU MUST INDICATE THAT IN THE NOTES for the opportunity. Although the package no longer requires a CourseID to be purchased, we can still include CourseIDs in the package description if you choose. Just continue to provide that information in the notes for the opportunity.

Changes to CourseID Requirements for Evolve eCommerce Custom Packages Same customer experience for entering CourseIDs for Packages that they have for Pre- Orders The long- term vision is to do this for all transactions, but these two scenarios are a first step.

Changes to CourseID Requirements for Evolve eCommerce Custom Packages In the cases where a product is part of an Evolve Custom Package, it has published, and it requires a Course ID, the student will be charged for the item immediately – regardless of whether the student has entered the CourseID. In the cases where a product is part of an Evolve Custom Package, it has NOT published, and it requires a Course ID, the student will be NOT be charged for the item until it publishes and it is added to their content list (not after they enter the courseID).

Improvements to Customer Messaging about Billing An area of confusion for customers has been the way Evolve handles invoicing (breaking orders apart and billing at the time of fulfillment.) This is exactly how other eCommerce sites (including Amazon) handle billing, however we’ve made messaging improvements to clarify the process regarding how: ―transactions may be broken into separate orders to streamline fulfillment ―customers will not be charged until the items are shipped or fulfilled, so they may see separate or delayed charges

Instructor Pre-orders Not only can students now preorder eProducts, but instructors may as well. We understand they won’t be purchasing them, but they will now be able to reserve their electronic products in the same 6-month window as the students. This should help reps and CSRs who would like to reserve resources or eproducts closer to the time of adoption.

A few things to note about approvals While eProduct access for faculty can be requested 6 months prior to publication, the products themselves won’t appear in the customer’s content list until the product is both published AND APPROVED in Evolve Admin. The products won’t appear in the sales reps’ Evolve Queue to be able to approve until publication, so you won’t be able to PRE-APPROVE the instructor’s request. Instead, those requests will hit your queue at the time the product publishes, and you’ll need to approve requests then.

Instructor Pre-orders At the time the product is preordered, the instructor will still need to request the format for the products where applicable (evolve, blackboard, etc...) It’s important to note that not all available formats may appear at the time the preordered product is first made available. If a different format is needed by the instructor that is made available on or after publication, a new request would need to be submitted.

Improvements to Enrollment process associated with multiple course instances for access code protected products A common problem in the past occurred when users had to access the same product in multiple course instances throughout the curriculum (think HESI Case Studies or SimChart) resulting in the need for multiple access code This release streamlines that by verifying via login a previous access code redemption or ecommerce purchase when a customer enters a CourseID. That verification will result in the user being enrolled in the new course without needing to request/enter an additional access code.

Discounted prices displayed in search results While promotional prices have always been reflected on the product pages of Evolve, the search results displayed full price only. This release will include a discount displayed in the search results as well as in the product page itself.
