7 ACADEMICS K-2 GRADING SCALE The report card is aligned to the adopted Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Math. It also reflects updates in our curriculum and instruction. On the report card, you will find:  Category titles and descriptors reflecting the Common Core State Standards.  Performance Scales (4-1) reflecting student progress toward Common Core State Standards and district units of instruction.  Personal and social development behaviors reflecting student skills necessary to be a productive learner and citizen in the classroom.

12 EXTRA CURRICULARS Meet an author, be an author Math Fit Night Math Night Occur 4 times a year to expose families to the exciting topics being learned by students at school. Fun activities, door prizes, and dinner are all provided.

13 EXTRA CURRICULARS Before and After School Care Before care is available at 6:30 am. After school care provides care and homework help. There are also opportunities for outdoor and indoor play, along with crafts and technology time. This is available every school day until 6:00.

14 EXTRA CURRICULARS Roscoe Reading Second and Fourth Graders will participated in the Roscoe Reading Program. This program rewards students for reaching specified reading point levels during each quarter. Students who meet the Roscoe goal earn a ticket to an amazing ice cream party and reading celebration, Roscoe Trading Cards, other prizes and BOOKS - lots of books!

15 EXTRA CURRICULARS Day of CaringNavy Assistance Santee Cooper volunteered their time for Day of Caring. They put up fences, painted, assisted in the library, and much more. The Navy helped monitor testing!

16 EXTRA CURRICULARS Field Day Jump Rome for Heart We raised $11,079.58 for Jump Rope for Heart so Ms. Butka had to spend the night on the roof!

17 EXTRA CURRICULARS Chorus Students who show exemplary skills are asked to join chorus to practice afterschool every Tuesday. The school’s chorus also performs at a variety of venues throughout the school year.

18 EXTRA CURRICULARS Art Club Students who show exemplary skills are asked to join art club to enhance their skills on Tuesdays afterschool. Students submit pieces of their work to various shows throughout the year.

19 EXTRA CURRICULARS Running Club Meets each Monday until 3:00. This school year, the running club participated in numerous 5K events, and even hosted one.

20 EXTRA CURRICULARS Trebuchet Students collaborate to design and build a medieval siege machine called a trebuchet. Using concepts from both math and physics the students will attempt to hit various targets at practice in order to calibrate the machine. In the spring the students take the machine and their skills to The Citadel to compete against other teams from local schools.

21 EXTRA CURRICULARS Zumba and Yoga offered on a regular basis to those who show an interest in improving their health.

22 Montessori Program Whitesville has the only Montessori program in the district. We currently have 2 classes, 3-6 year olds and 6-9 year olds.
