Saving the Presentation and Conversion to Other Formats

The newly created presentation has a symbolic name Presentation1. It exists only in the operating memory. Therefore, it is necessary to save it to a disk. You can use any of the methods:  On the File tab, click Save.  Click the Save button with a picture of a floppy disk on the Quick Access.  Use Ctrl + S.

Starting with the PowerPoint 2007, presentations are saved in a new format (.PPTX extension). The files in the new format are smaller and offer more functionality. Some of the new features, however, are not compatible with versions of PowerPoint 2003 and earlier. On the contrary, the versions of PowerPoint 2007 and 2010 are fully compatible. Also a presentation created in Powerpoint 2003 is fully compatible with the PowerPoint 2007 and 2010.

If the presentations created in Powerpoint 2007 and 2010 are opened in an earlier version (e.g. 2003), they can be converted in this way: 1. On the File tab, click Save and Send. 2. Click Change File Type. 3. In the right part of the window select the PowerPoint 97-2003. 4. Click Save as. Select a location and save the file. In the right part of the window select an option PowerPoint Show. 4. Click Save as. Select a location and save. Card File Card File PowerPoint Performance Change the File Type Save and Send

The PDF format is used very often, particularly in the presentation on the website. It can be read, printed, but not edit: 1. On the File tab, click Save and Send. 2. Click Create PDF/XPS. 3. In the right part of the window select Create PDF/XPS. 4. In the list, you can choose how to Optimize for conversion. 5. Select the recommended option Open File after Publishing. 6. Click on the Publish button. Card File Create PDF/XPS Save and Send

1. On the File tab, click Save and Send, and then click Create Video. 2. On the right side of the window, select the resolution (appropriate for 960x720 points). 3. Choose whether you want to use the recorded timings and narrations. 4. Click on the Create Video button. 5. Click Save as. Select a location and save the file. 12 Work in groups of two students. First, each of you, create a simple presentation of six slides: Title slide, Slide with the content, Image slide, Slide with the chart, Conclusion. On at least two slides, use the animation. For all the slides set the Luxury theme. On the transitions between the slides set the Outer cube. Then try the above mentioned save file options in Powerpoint. Show these ways to save:  Save a presentation in the PowerPoint 97-2003.

 Save as a self-started up presentation.  Save as a video file.  Save a file in PDF.  Save as a document in DOCX. Compare the individual ways. Formulate your thoughts in writing. Explain to your partner where that method is used and why.
