3 Planned Economy Goal: Make-up 100 year gap in technology in 10 yrs. Government control (What, How, and for Whom) Wanted to advance technology so capitalist countries did not defeat them.

12 Brezhnev Brutally repressive (not quite like Stalin) Cracked down hard on dissidents…ppl were jailed, exiled, or sent to hospitals for the mentally ill.
