ORAL HISTORY PROJECT TANE MUNOZ NATALIE GONZALES FLOR CARDENAS

Table of contents Introduction Biography Pictures Interview What I learned What do you think Closing statements Credits

Introduction Our group is made up of Flor Cardenas, Tane Munoz, and Natalie Gonzalez and we interviewed Miss. Laura P. Rocha. She was born on November 6,1930 in Laredo TX. and is 77 years old.

Biography She grew up in Laredo, Texas and still lives there today. She still lives in the same house today. Due to a stroke in the year 2000 she can no longer walk. She was born on November 6, 1930 and is now 77 years old.

Interview Laura P. Rocha is 77 years old and was born in Laredo, TX on 11-06-30. Both her parents were born in Mexico. As a child she enjoyed playing with dolls and jump roping with other girls. She has noticed that children have more liberty now than when she was growing up. Ms. Rocha attended school at Buenos Aires Elementary, Christen Middle, and Martin High School. Unfortunately Ms. Rocha suffered from a stroke in the year 2000 so she is now bedridden.

What I learned I learned that the neighborhoods were not as crowded during that time as they are now. This is because most of them were still developing. I also learned what people her age usually wore. They would wear long full skirts with a petty coat and bobby socks. I also learned about many events in Laredo's history such as the change in government during the 60’s and the school fire and robbery in 1970. Another thing I learned was that the U. S. started participating in World War II after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

What do you think While doing this interview I found that I learned a great deal of facts. This project has made me want to learn more about some of the things that Ms.Rocha has lived through. Some were local events while others were world wide. I have also gained a greater respect for my elders because I now know how much some of them have lived thorough.

Closing Statements Now That this assignment is over I am pleased with all of the things that I learned while doing it. Thanks to this project I have learned more about the past of Laredo and our country. I am very thankful to Ms. Rocha for letting me acquire this knowledge.
