Mark’s Daily Routines

Every morning I walk from Kids West to Miss Custer’s classroom. As I walk in the hallway, I think about how I’m going to have a good day.

When I get to my classroom, I put my coat and backpack in my locker. I greet my friends nicely by saying ‘Hi” and quietly walk into the classroom. I do the lunch count by putting my stick in the cup.

After the lunch count, I sit down at the computer. When I am at the computer, I am working on reading. I do my best work by following the menu on the computer. I only read the book that Miss Custer tells me to. When I am done reading, I tell Austin it is his turn. Then I quietly join the rest of the class during Calendar time. When I sit down, I do not make noise or interrupt my neighbors. I can show my teacher I’m listening by participating in Calendar Time. When Calendar Time is over I listen to Miss Custer tell me which Centers I am doing today.

Center Time I will do my best work!

During Center Time, I have 2 star centers I have to do. I can look at the chart on the wall to see which star center I want to do first. When I choose a star center I have to stay until the timer goes off. I have to take my time and do my best work. When I hear the timer ding, I can switch centers.

Everyday during Center Time I eat a snack. When I hear my watch beep I know that it is snack time! I quietly go into the hall and eat my snack. When I am done eating, I quietly come back into the classroom and begin working again.

Sometimes during Centers, I will be working with Mrs. Quinn or Miss Custer. It is okay to work with them even if I’m not done with my Center work. I will be able to work on my Center assignments when I am done working with Mrs. Quinn or Miss Custer.

Following Miss Custer’s Directions I can be a good listener!

I can show Miss Custer I am a good listener by keeping my eyes on her. When Miss Custer gives me a direction I need to follow it.

Sometimes I don’t want to follow Miss Custer’s directions. But even if I don’t want to follow directions or I think something is stupid, I need to listen to my teacher. My teacher wants me to learn and be a good student, so I need to listen and follow her directions.

When I Feel Angry and Frustrated

When I am at I school sometimes I feel frustrated or angry. Sometimes I feel angry when I am writing. Sometimes I feel angry when I don’t know how to do something or think I can’t do something.

When I feel angry there are three things I can do: 1.I can raise my hand and wait for Miss Custer to help me. 2.I can take three deep breaths to calm myself. 3.I can take a break in the hallway.

It is okay if I don’t do things right the first time. It is okay if I don’t do something perfectly. I am learning and if I make a mistake I can fix it or ask for help.
