2 Anticipatory Set Give directions with leaving out key details.

3 Input Main idea- what the text is about Key details- these details support the main idea by giving the reader additional information. Quote-a group of words taken directly from text.

4 Input When reading you should first find the main idea. Readers should ask “who, what, when, where, and why” to ask for key details about the main idea. After you find the main idea and key details, you have a better understanding of what the author is writing about. Not all paragraphs will be able to answer all the key questions.

5 Input When asked to specifically provide evidence from the text to support your answer you may have to use a quote.
