5 What is current state? BYOD/Consumerization
the pressure gap Consumer experience Pressure on IT “Universal access, always connected, self service, immediate, no barriers” What is the pain that the customer is feeling that we are addressing with our Workplace and Mobility portfolio? Each of us have two personas – our individual consumer persona and our persona as a member of the enterprise in which we work. Our experiences in these two personas have come to be very different. At HP we call this the pressure gap – caused by the consumer benchmark experience, upon which enterprise services are being judged. So let’s take a look at some of the key attributes common to that consumer experience. <Click> There are important key attributes to that experience which are worth noting, namely: These services are all universally accessible – meaning that on any IP connected device I can easily access the service They are always connected – meaning that no matter what network I am on – as long as it can route to the internet – I am connected to the service They are all based on the principle of self-service, meaning that the user is completely capable of accessing a marketplace to gain immediate access to the service or application they want – with no barriers That app or experience is then delivered immediately. Nowhere in this process are we expected to “wait 24 hours for overnight processing” Finally there are very little perceived barriers to access these services. Once a user subscribes and provides those user details that’s it. It never asks again. It doesn’t insist on you providing credentials from a USB stick to access VPN services before you can access the service. This of course asks questions about the grade of security behind these services – but the experience of the end user is simply that access is intuitive and pain free And <click> to a degree (and with some advertising) many of these service continue to be free There is I hope something quite obvious about these attributes, and of course that is that they are also the same attributes of cloud. In fact you can see the impact of Cloud and Mobility as being two-sides of the same pressure. One is forcing enterprise IT to change their underlying provisioning model – and the other is fundamentally changing the consumption model. Mobility is driving cloud and cloud is feeding the mobility revolution. And here’s the challenge … that our current enterprise grade experience is not competing at that level. Commonly our enterprise experience is based on different / opposing attributes: Access to services is silo’d based on years of over-complicated and organic security / governance models. Who you are in the organization can often dictate the experience you get and the level of service you can enjoy Connectivity is based on the user experience needing to navigate hard boundaries before connection to an enterprise service can be made. And so to bypass this barrier the modern end user is migrating data out of data centers and into the consumer cloud. The more we enforce these barriers the quicker the migration will occur. Access is not self-service for many enterprise services. Even if request is automated it normally passes through the hands of management before access to services is authorized – there is a built in delay to the end-user experience which is not equivalent outside the enterprise boundary. In many cases it is not even automated requiring calls to front-line helpdesks and the raising of incident tickets that need to get routed to the appropriate team. Leaving the end user waiting for access. This is the pressure on our IT departments today – to raise the enterprise to compete with consumer. To drive a cloud strategy that matches the internet start-ups and mobile app providers. If we don’t accelerate that change and move to a model in which access via mobile devices is seen as the primary access model then we will continue to be left behind as the consumer benchmark wins out. <Click to go to next slide> “Siloed access, legacy connectivity, request based access, VPN’s” FREE* Enterprise experience

7 HP’s overall approach Supporting enterprise preferences
HP’s strategy for Office and UC applications supports: Traditional On Premise Asset Ownership by client Private cloud Dedicated to client Public cloud Multi-tenant Hybrid Mix of traditional on premise and cloud Our approach from a services perspective is to ensure we can support customers in whatever model they choose - from full on premise to full off preimse. Our focus for this session is on the hybrid cloud approach as it applies to Microsoft Office 365

8 Cloud choices for Office 365
Customer Journey to the Cloud Choice Flexibility Cost Mobility Assurance/ Reliability Integration Potential Customer Choices Delivers Multiple End-Points Microsoft Office 365 On Prem/Microsoft Hybrid HP Private Hosted or Customer-based Cloud Traditional IT Public cloud Private cloud Hybrid Customer Needs As you can see there are three main routes to Office 365 ranging from full public cloud to completely private cloud. As I mentioned before our experience with customers is that they prefer the hybrid approach. In terms of the actual migration process there are also options which depend mainly on the size of the organisation...

9 Migration to Office 365 - Considerations
Some factors to consider when planning the move to Hybrid O365 Organizational Regulatory Compliance, data privacy, and security Size of organization, requirement for customization Minimize user disruption and ensure positive adoption of the new approach Infrastructure Identify any existing dependencies that might complicate a move to Office 365 Complexity of current environment and the required network infrastructure Operations Contingency planning: Off-boarding plan: moving back to “on-premise” in future if required. Each company is different but in this slide we’ve highled a few of the many factors to be considred when planning the move to O Apart from these there are a number of others, and in the planning and architecture phases we take all these into account and make sure we have addressed them fully. <Other factors that may need to be addressed> Teaming across IT during design / implementation all stakeholders need to be represented Support – what happens if I have an issue? who does what when help is needed Ongoing system management for the on premise elements of the hybrid solution Timeframe to migrate in view of huge data volumes people want to migrate do you really need to migrate all the data? Already migrated users moving to a department or location that has not yet migrated Cater for this during the Architecture phase O365 bandwidth throttling impacts migration speed (3rd party tools) Add more machines and management accounts in O365 Wave definition is extremely important Assign a dedicated migration manager Avoid users struggling in the new environment Change Management, training, clear communication Some functionality not present in O365 (FAX, SMS,…) Keep that functionality on-premise

12 HP Readiness Workshop for Office 365
Service overview A one-day, highly interactive, slide-free workshop to enable an organization to decide when and how to move to O365. The O365 readiness workshop encompasses all aspects of moving productivity workloads to O365. From a product perspective it can cover Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Yammer, OneDrive and the respective partner ecosystem. In addition, network, security and privacy- related components, tenants, Active Directory, and compliance are also discussed. A typical workshop lasts for a full day. As you can see here, we can cover all the main Microsoft product areas but the precise scope is flexible and the goal is to make it fully relevant to you specific environment. Various areas may be considered out of scope for the immediate move but our aim is to ensure we at least raise visibility of criteria that may not have been considered previously – and can be planned for future phases.

13 Application Acceleration for Office 365
cloud When there are mutliple sites – national or international - connected across Wide Area (WAN) connections When network performance is a potential issue Maintaining consistent performance in terms of network latency is critical for a good end user experience When detailed reporting on the performance of the network links is required When there is pressure to complete the migration as quickly as possible When predictable fast response times are critical When available network bandwidth across the WAN is a problem WAN Branch Offices Datacenter
