MANAGE PRE-SCOPING MIP Home

Manage Pre-Scoping/SS03 SS03 “Pre-scope project: Pre-scoping checklist”  This is the pre-scoping checklist. The goal of this screen is to verify that certain tasks were performed as part of pre-scoping, and to select the result of pre-scoping (either Hold the project or Continue to study the project).  If you have not completed all the tasks, you will need to log out and wait until you can indicate “true” for each of the required fields. You can not save a screen that is only partially completed.  The “cost” is the actual or final cost of the pre-scoping effort only.  The pre-scoping result determines the next step in the workflow. Selecting “continue to study project” will send the project to scoping. Selecting “hold pre-scoped project” removes the project from all user’s work lists until a specified date. After the hold period is over, the pre-scoping task lead can re-evaluate the project and decide to continue it or hold it until a new date.  Holds typically occur while waiting for funding. See Pre-Scope Project in Workflow

Manage Pre-Scoping/SS04 SS04 “Hold pre-scoped project: Hold information”  If “hold” was the result of pre-scoping, the pre- scoping task lead immediately receives this task on their work item list.  Selecting “Do not hold, continue study” allows the study project to continue to scoping. Setting a date on which the hold will expire causes the task to be removed from all work lists until that date. After that date, it will reappear on the pre-scoping task lead’s work bench as “Hold Pre-Scoped Project.”  If you want to extend the hold after it reappears, just revise the expiration date.  Call the MIP Help Desk if you need to change the hold date after you have already completed the activity. See Hold Pre-Scope Project in Workflow

Manage Pre-Scoping/SS05 Page 1 of 2 See Hold Pre-Scope Project in Workflow SS05 p.1 “Initiate study project: Project information”  Select the registered scoping task lead for your project from the list of organizations on the two drop-down lists. The scoping task will be routed to their work list. Caution: The drop-down lists are NOT filtered by registered users that can receive the assigned project. Make sure the selected organization type and organization name match the registered scoping task lead for the project. Contact the help desk to verify the registered users for the task. Selecting organizations from these drop down lists does not automatically register them to receive the task, and does not result in an error message that the task will be sent to no user.  Start Date, End Date, and Cost refer to the scoping task, not to the full study project. The date must be entered in the specified format.

Manage Pre-Scoping/SS05 Page 2 of 2 SS05 p.2 “Initiate study project: Contact list”  Enter the names of the project contacts as you would like them to appear in the reports. Phone numbers, email, and address information can be added into the fields as free text.  None of the fields are required, nor are there any active links from this screen. This information is for the reports only.  The people entered on this screen do not have to be registered users in the MIP.
