2 Munich Olympic of 1972  A Palestinian group known as Black September seized Israeli athletes inside the Olympic village. The Israeli government refused the terrorists ’ demands. One German policeman and five of eight were killed. The terrorism become more prominent in the world ’ s consciousness in no small part because terrorists continued to choose targets for their symbolic value and for max media coverage.

3 Ambassador to Afghanistan Assassinated, February 14, 1979  Four Afghans kidnapped U.S. Ambassador Adolph Dubs in Kabul and demanded the release of various "religious figures." Dubs was killed, along with four alleged terrorists, when Afghan police stormed the hotel room where he was being held.

4 Bombing of U.S. Embassy in Beirut, April 18, 1983 Sixty-three people, including the CIA's Middle East director, were killed and 120 were injured in a 400-pound suicide truck-bomb attack on the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, Lebanon. The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.

5 Achille Lauro Hijacking, October 7, 1985  Four Palestinian Liberation Front terrorists seized the Italian cruise liner in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, taking more than 700 hostages. One U.S. passenger was murdered before the Egyptian government offered the terrorists safe haven in return for the hostages' freedom.

6 Servicemen's Bar Attack, December 26, 1987  Catalan separatists bombed a Barcelona bar frequented by U.S. servicemen, resulting in the death of one U.S. citizen.

7 Pan Am 103 Bombing, December 21, 1988  Pan American Airlines Flight 103 was blown up over Lockerbie, Scotland, by a bomb believed to have been placed on the aircraft by Libyan terrorists in Frankfurt, West Germany. All 259 people on board were killed.

8 U.S. Embassy Bombings in East Africa, August 7, 1998 A bomb exploded at the rear entrance of the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, killing 12 U.S. citizens, 32 Foreign Service Nationals (FSNs), and 247 Kenyan citizens. 9 Shell Platform Bombing, June 27, 1999  In Port Harcourt, Nigeria, armed youths stormed a Shell oil platform, kidnapping one U.S. citizen, one Nigerian national, and one Australian citizen, and causing undetermined damage. A group calling itself "Enough is Enough in the Niger River" claimed responsibility. Further seizures of oil facilities followed.

10 American Contractors Attacked in Al Anbar, Iraq (November 25, 2005)  At about 8:30 AM, near Hit, Al Anbar, Iraq, assailants attacked a convoy, killing two contractors (including one US contractor), three security guards, and one civilian, and damaging several vehicles. Ansar al-Sunnah claimed responsibility.

11 Hostages Kidnapped in Baghdad (November 26, 2005 )  In Baghdad, Iraq, assailants kidnapped four humanitarian aid workers (one US national, one UK national, and two Canadian nationals). On 7 March 2006, a video of the hostages was shown by al- Jazeera TV, dated 28 February 2006, showing only the UK and Canadian hostages.

12 American National Killed in Baghdad (March 9, 2006)  In the Mansour district of Baghdad, Iraq, the body of the US national was found shot and killed with his hands tied, and injuries on his back.
