2 There are five different groups of animal with vertebrates.
These classifications are: Mammals Fish Birds Amphibians Reptiles

3 ORCA WHALES HAVE CERTAIN CHARACTERISTISTICS THAT MAKE THEM A MAMMAL.
HERE ARE SOME OF THE ATTRIBUTES : THEY ARE WARM-BLOODED. THEY HAVE HAIR OR FUR. MAMMALS GIVE BIRTH TO LIVE YOUNG THEY FEED THEIR BABIES WITH MOTHER’S MILK

4 The orca whale is a mammal.
Some interesting facts about the orca whale are that it is the biggest in the dolphin family. The orca whale is all black and white. This camouflage helps it stay safe. The black helps it hide in the dark water. The orca whale swim with its tail. Its tail is called a fluke.

5 My Animal’s Appearance
The orca whale has large teeth in its mouth. They are shaped like cones. Orca Whales look black and white on the body. This help the whale camouflage itself. It has a tail fin on the top of its body. The male dorsal fin is larger than the female one. The orca has as a fluke, two flippers, and a blowhole. They have good eyes sight.

6 Orca’s Adaptation Orcas breathe air at the surface of the water through a blowhole that is on the top of the whale’s head. They can hold their breath for a long time.

7 Here is a diagram of the Orca Whale.

8 Social habitats Orcas are very fast swimmers. They can swim up to 30 miles per hour. This helps them catch their prey. They live in oceans. Their habitat is in salt water where they live. They live in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic Oceans. They stay in groups called pods.

9 Orca Whales are predators.
Orcas are good hunters. The members of the pods work together to hunt fish. They form a circle around lots of fish. They then use their flukes to pound them to stun the fish. They like to eat fish, squid, sharks and seals, turtles, and birds.

10 Social Habits Orcas like to dive deep.
They can dive up to 100 feet down. They like to swim at very fast speeds and then jump. When they fall they like to flip onto their sides and backs. They call that breaching.

11 Additional interesting facts
Orca Whales swim by moving their flukes up and down. They talk to each other by making clicks.
