2 Verb A verb is an action word, a word of doing or being; it’s what you do! The infinitive is the “basic” verb form, that goes at the top of the conjugation graphic organizer. All infinitives in English start with the word “to…” All infinitives in French end in –er, -ir, -re

3 Infinitive At the top of your verb conjugation graphic organizer, write the infinitive in French and in English. It should look like this: être – to be (infinitive in French – infinitive in English)

4 Subject pronouns The subject pronouns represent the person or thing that is “verbing”; whoever or whatever is doing the verb action. First person is who is talking (I/we) Second person is who I’m talking to (you) Third person isn’t part of the conversation, they’re the one we’re talking about (he,she,it,they)

9 Conjugation When you conjugate the verb, you change the verb so it “goes” with the subject. This is called “agreement”. If the verb doesn’t agree with the subject, the verb is not conjugated correctly: “I are” is an example of incorrect conjugation; “I am” is an example of agreement
