2 PowerPoint PowerPoint is a presentation graphics program. PowerPoint links slides together to form a slide show as they used to do in the 20 th century using 2x2 kodachrome slides. PowerPoint includes various tools for creating slides and permit incorporation of pictures, sound and video.

3 PowerPoint PowerPoint is found under Accessories in the Microsoft Office 2004 Directory.

5 Creating Slides in PowerPoint To start, select Blank Presentation Locate the working areas. View-Slide or Outline Current slide View Selector-- Normal Slide Layout Slide Show

6 Creating Slides in PowerPoint Generally, I use a title (above) and some writing in the text area. I try to keep things simple and easy to read. If you have a lot of material, then you either have to edit some of it out, or make sure that it fits comfortably on the slide.

7 Creating Slides in PowerPoint Nearly all of my presentations use plain slides. I think that it avoids distractions and allows the viewer to concentrate on the content. However, many different combinations of layouts and patterns are available. These are available using the Format command.

16 Creating Slides in PowerPoint Slide Sorter View allows you to see the whole show at once.

17 Creating Slides in PowerPoint In Slide Sorter View you can delete slides or change the sequence of the slides in the presentation. It permits you to have a global overview of the whole show. Then, you use the Slide Show command to play the show.

18 Playing Slides in PowerPoint When exhibiting the slide show, you click on the spacebar, enter key, down arrow key or PgDn key to advance the slides. You can make it so that the slides change automatically. You can also make it loop continuously until the Esc key is hit.

19 Playing Slides in PowerPoint A large variety of transitions are available to use between slides. The one you just saw is called Checkerboard Across. Various transition speeds are available. Animation schemes are available for the real show-offs. All you need to do now is to figure out what you want to present.
