1 ASSET-for-ALL® Alumni meeting 18 Dec 2011, Hyderabad, AP - India అన్న దానం మహా దానం - విద్యా దానం మహత్తరం అన్నేన క్షనికా తృప్తి - యావజీవంతు విద్యయా Feeding a person with food is the greatest donation that a man can do. Feeding the same person by transferring the knowledge is far more better thing because knowledge lasts for lifetime Chakradhar Sreeramoju ® Regd. 2 Our great intellectual leaders said…  Give someone a fish and you feed him for a day; Teach someone to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.  He who opens a school door, closes a prison.  Education, education, education alone! Travelling through many cities of Europe and observing in them the comforts and education of even the poor people, there was brought to my mind the state of our own poor people, and I used to shed tears. What made the difference? Education was the answer I got.  The only service to be done for our lower classes is to give them education, to develop their lost individuality. Give them ideas – that is the only help they require, and then the rest must follow as the effect.  Be the change you want to see in the world.  An ounce of practice is worth more than tons of preaching. ASSET-for-ALL

3 Child education in our country *  Less than half of India's children between the age 6 and 14 go to school.  A little over one-third of all children who enroll in grade one reach grade eight.  At least 35 million children aged 6 - 14 years do not attend school.  53% of girls in the age group of 5 to 9 years are illiterate.  In India, only 53% of habitation has a primary school.  In India, only 20% of habitation has a secondary school.  On an average an upper primary school is 3 km away in 22% of areas under habitations.  In nearly 60% of schools, there are less than two teachers to teach Classes I to V. 8 Yes there is an issue.. What are the options for us? Ignore it.. Feel sorry Blame someone Convince yourself to ignore the issue and.. Forget it eventually… Or Think about it… Relate your self to the situation Try Understand the problem Try to think for a solution Work towards it in small steps – things might not change over night Work individually Work with an organization or group of people with similar vision or interest You don’t have to abandon your personal duties/commitments You don’t have to spend all your time & wealth It doesn’t cost a fortune – just little bit of time, effort & money There could be challenges / difficulties / limitations Support an organization with similar vision / interest ASSET-for-ALL Government Society … and list grows Its not my problem – who cares? I understand, but sorry I don’t have time ! … and list grows

9 We thought of a step at a time..  We understand reaching all sectors of community to promote education is a gigantic task in itself and beyond the current capacity of ASSET  We want to start with students who want to study but don’t have financial support. We want to support such "Students-in-Need" by providing monetary assistance in terms of "Tuition fee - Assistance“  Encouraging students to continue their education in all possible ways.  Bring the 3 key elements together ASSET-for-ALL Educational Institutes Community Students
