2 Essential Questions How did the Crusades stimulate trade between Europe and the Muslim Empire? What were Machiavelli’s ideas about power? Who were prominent Renaissance artists and writers?

3 What was the Renaissance?  Renaissance means rebirth. It was a time from the 1300s – 1500s when Greek and Roman knowledge was reintroduced to Europe.  The Renaissance stimulated new forms of art, literature, and scholarship.  The Renaissance began in the Italian city-states and moved to northern Europe.
