Discuss the purpose of traffic controls

2 Traffic Signals Steady lights
Red –stop and remain stopped as long as the signal is red Yellow - a steady yellow light or arrow indicates that the light is about to change Clear the intersection Green – go IF the way is clear

STOP before entering the intersection Flashing Yellow - Caution dangerous intersection

You may proceed in the direction of the green arrow You may NOT proceed in the direction of the red arrow

When this traffic light is RED STOP and remain stopped until the light changes Slow down and proceed with caution Yield to traffic in the intersection
