TEXTILEXPO MOSCOW 25th September 2014 Michal KALIK Area Manager East Europe Textile lightfastness testing is about testing the textile colour against the negative effect of daylight. Crucial for the colour fastness properties. The fading of colours is probably something everybody could observe already in his private life. The industry is aware of this problem and improvements are made every day throughout the whole supply chain. All its members test their products using xenon lightfastness testers. Starting with the people making the dyestuffs, over to the ones dyeing the yarns and finally the people making the various products such as garments, fabrics, carpets and others. The most commonly used test methods here are ISO 105-B02 and AATCC TM16.

Each sample should be exposed and tested under the same conditions. Xenotest 220 controls light and temperature within narrow tolerances using proven on-rack Atlas XENOSENSIV sensor technology. The specimen rack carries 19 double sample holders, allowing 200 to 250 single samples to be tested at once. The larger capacity makes the 220 the ideal standard lightfastness tester for both independent users as well as commercial test labs. By optimizing the test chamber size, costs per sample can now be reduced significantly.
