7 Leader in Converged Infrastructure
HP Servers Launching new server categories HP Storage Realizing a new vision for the storage industry HP Networking Simplifying the network HP Technology Services Revolutionizing support services Project Moonshot <89% energy <94% space Open Standards-based SDN HP Servers — in the past 12 months we’ve been launching new server categories. For example, Project Moonshot is an advance in extreme low-energy server technology. Unlike traditional infrastructure designs, this technology pools resources in a highly federated environment to use 89% less energy and 94% less space—for 63% less cost. HP Storage — HP is delivering simplified and converged solutions that span from the midrange to the high end of the enterprise, enabling organizations to maximize the value from their information in the most efficient way possible. Our Converged Storage product portfolio was built from the ground up to meet the needs of today’s data centers and includes industry-leading storage technologies: HP 3PAR Storage, HP StoreOnce Backup, HP LeftHand Storage, and more. A second example is HP StoreOnce. HP Networking — HP recently announced the industry’s first open-standards-based software-defined network (SDN) technologies to span infrastructure, and control software and application layers with a “single control plane.” This enables enterprises and cloud providers to simplify and maximize agility across data center, campus, and branch networks. HP Technology Services—HP also recently announced the industry’s first IT support services architected for multivendor, converged, and cloud environments, helping enterprises address problems before they occur. With these services you can realize 95 percent first-time resolution rates and resolve unplanned downtime issues up to 66 percent faster. This is just a small representative sample of the many innovations in enterprise technology. 10 Innovating far into the future
Creating flexible displays that use ambient light instead of backlighting Breaking new ground in analyzing and applying collective intelligence Demonstrating new forms of computer memory – Memristors – new generation of nonvolatile memory We’ve touched on some of the incredible things that HP technology is doing today. What will it help us do tomorrow? That’s what HP’s research and development teams are working on. Although HP Labs is our most famous arm, a large percentage of research at HP is conducted by business groups focused on constantly improving our core products. Large leaps however—innovations beyond the roadmap—happen in HP Labs. HP Labs has got hundreds of dedicated researchers in 7 labs around the world working on things like: Creating flexible, interactive displays that use ambient light instead of backlighting so our phones and laptops use less energy, and enabling access to access digital content wherever paper is used today Breaking new ground in how collective intelligence is collected and applied, creating software analytics and algorithms that can add meaningful context to the huge data sets produced by millions of social media users Demonstrating the existence of the memristor, the fourth basic element in integrated circuits, making it possible for a new generation of nonvolatile memory and storage solutions © Copyright 2013 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.

17 Mobility cannot be ignored or Slowed
90% Net-new growth in device adoption in next four years represented by smartphones & tablets1 Huge change for support and application and content delivery models! Over 4.5 billion Personal client devices will be on the network in 20152 Pervasive mobility! Approximately The only wire required for employee work spaces will be the power connector3 Network access is changing! 1 Wire By 2016 Objective: Do not ignore BYOD, if customer does not have the conversation, you open up the dialog, else you risk losing the opportunity Look at the things happening in the industry. The mobile landscape is going through phenomenal growth. The generation called – millennial or Gen Y is entering workforce. This generation is brought up with technology around them, it is an integral part of their life. They want to work the way they choose to and whatever device they are most comfortable with. The 8am-5pm days are gone, personal & professional life is so intertwined, there is no delineation. We are in the middle of a transformation to highly mobile centric computing. What this means is that the access network is changing. Gartner has made a bold prediction by 2016 the only wire you need in the office is power. That may seem very aggressive but in reality customers are marching towards it. I recently read an article about a financial customer. The director of IT department indicated that they were working on a building scheduled to occupy by 2015/16 to support about 1500 employees. The uniqueness about this building was …..just as Gartner has said……a completely wireless building. This has significant impact on the IT operations as mobility is becoming ubiquitous. I cannot stress enough about it, if we do not lead the WLAN transition in your accounts, in your territory, the doors will be shut on us because the entire access network is changing. 1 Gartner: Gartner’s Top Predictions for IT Organizations & Users, 2012 & Beyond: Control Slips Away (23 November 2011) 2 IDC: The Empowered IT User: How Individuals Are Using Technology & Redefining IT (March 2012) 3 Gartner: Predicts 2012: Mobile & Wireless Technologies Rise (16 November, 2011) G © Copyright 2013 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
