John Brown wanted to help slaves by giving them guns to rebel against their owners. He and a group of soldiers raided a gun storage facility in Harper’s Valley, Virginia. Other soldiers surrounded the area, but Brown refused to surrender. 1859

10 John Brown Two of John Brown's sons died
at Harpers Valley. Brown was wounded.

11 John Brown was put on trial and hanged for his
organization and involvement at Harper’s Ferry.
