7 This book was important because it turned so many people against slavery. 1852

9 Harpers Valley, Virginia John Brown wanted to help slaves by giving them guns to rebel against their owners. He and a group of soldiers raided a gun storage facility in Harper’s Valley, Virginia. Other soldiers surrounded the area, but Brown refused to surrender.

10 Two of John Brown's sons died at Harpers Valley. Brown was wounded.

11 John Brown was put on trial and hanged for his organization and involvement at Harper’s Ferry.

12 Her book, Uncle Tom’s Cabin, demonstrated the atrocities of slavery, and it turned many people (Northerners) against slavery. His raid on Harper’s Ferry showed that people were willing to use violence to stop slavery. Civil War.....coming soon!
