1 Art Room Policy and Procedures Ms. Rohde

2 WELCOME TO ART In this class you are going to learn the basic fundamentals and elements of art. You will begin with drawing. Then touch on color and go on to 3D design. This will be a beginning art class to introduce you to the fundamentals of art and design.

3 What I will NEED for class PENCIL Notebook (this will be used as your sketchbook, so you may get either a composition book, or a sketchbook.) Pencil sharpener- There is one in the classroom but permission is needed to get out of your seat.

4 Materials that will help in this class Ruler Sharpie fine and extra fine Crayons Markers Color pencils Scissors Glue

5 Coming into class 1. Enter the classroom calmly and quietly. 2. Get your notebook from the crate or your bag. 3. Sit in your assigned seat. 4. Quietly begin your warm-up/sketch of the week. 5. Continue working on warm-up until I call time. 6. Remain quiet the entire time.

6 My notebook/sketchbook You will have a notebook/sketchbook that you will need for this class daily. Every week we will begin a new drawing that will go into the notebook. You are expected to work on these drawing daily and turn in your notebook for grading based on calendar provided If you do not have a notebook points will be deducted from your notebook grade

7 What happens if I am late?? Report to the media center immediately Get a time-stamped note and then (and only then!) return to my classroom. Enter the classroom silently and calmly Hand me your note Do NOT be disruptive—you are already tardy and behind.

8 First ten last ten! You may not leave the classroom for any reason during the first 10 or last 10 minutes of class. You may not leave the classroom when I am giving direct instruction (teaching new stuff) You may leave the classroom during student work time. One pass = one student out at a time I must sign you in and out on the pass.

9 CLEAN UP!!! You will begin to clean up the last 10 minutes of class. Jobs will be assigned. Only those with a job will be out of their seat. All students are expected to help with clean up! (even if it isn’t your mess!)

10 Jobs Jobs will be assigned to each table monthly. Sinks Floors Tables Chairs Supplies Center table Trash cans Counters

11 ART ROOM RULES~ 1. Respect! 2. Raise your HAND!! 3. You will remain in you assigned seat! 4. Eating and drinking are not allowed in the art room! 5. KEEP IT CLEAN!

12 Leaving the ART ROOM 1. I will dismiss you 2. Silently stand up 3. Calmly and quietly push in your chair 4. Be sure not to leave any belongings behind!

13 Fire drill 1. Calmly push in your chairs. 2. Line up in a single file straight line. 3. Walk in a straight quite line down the hall, past the drama room, out the doors, to spot 50. 4. Remain in a single file straight quite line.

14 Lockdown drill Remain calm Stay in seat Do not move or make a sound I will take care of doors and windows. It is up to you to protect us by staying silent and clam.

15 Let’s Draw…. Show me what you got! Draw only using a pencil. I want you to tell me a story through images. This can be fiction or non-fiction. I want you to use as much detail as you can to get your story across. The catch is you can not use any word only images. Will I be able to understand your story? Good luck
