6 th Grade Social Studies Classroom Expectations Work productively. Stay positive. Come prepared. Always be polite and punctual…in your seat!

Are you ready? Do you have your composition book, your agenda and a writing utensil? Is your book bag in your locker? Is your pencil sharpened? Have you copied down tonight’s homework? Now you are ready to learn.

Teacher Supplies Respect my space. Respect the textbook. Return supplies to their proper location. Help keep the room clean.

Your Supplies Come prepared with your composition book, a writing utensil, colored pencils, a highlighter and your agenda. Respect your materials and store them orderly under your desk. Keep your area clean. Report vandalism immediately.

Steps to Success Enter the room orderly and go directly to your seat. Remain in the room and save questions and concerns until class begins. Get started! Copy your homework immediately and then begin your warm-up. ALWAYS title each entry with the session number, topic and date. Focus! Focus! Focus!

Your Social Studies Composition Book Use every page (front and back) and NEVER tear pages out. Follow the format exactly. Keep it neat and orderly. NEVER include other work from other subjects. Use EVERY space…it is a continuous work in progress. ALWAYS bring it to class.

Your Social Studies Composition Book Format Begin each class/session with the following heading: Session # Topic Date: Warm- Up Your warm-up response. Start the next session below where you left off. Session

Your Agenda Keep it with you at ALL times. Treat it with respect; no folding, ripping or tearing. Write with pencil and highlight wisely. It is YOUR tool for learning. You MUST copy each homework assignment exactly. Have it out and ready to be signed. Share it with your parents nightly and have them sign it.

Your Agenda…Your Pass Plan to remain in the room. The pass is only for emergencies. Never interrupt my instruction to ask to leave the room. If you have to ask, wait until independent time. No one may leave the room the first 10 minutes or last 10 minutes of class. Check the clock before you ask.

Late Work Points will be deducted for late work unless it is late due to an excused absence. Assignments are due at the beginning of class. Work left in lockers is late. Late homework will only count 50%. Deductions for late projects will be stated in each project outline/rubric.

Tardy Policy If you are, sign-in discreetly and put your note in the envelope/basket. Parents will be notified and consequences assigned.

Before you leave… Is your book under your desk? Is your trash off the floor? Is your desk aligned? Do you have any final comments, questions or concerns? Have you been dismissed by the teacher?
