1 Creating a TO-DO LIST What, Why, and How
To receive credit please print and complete the last slide and submit it to your coordinator.

2 WHAT?? A to-do list is a simple list of tasks that allows you to visually see what you need to accomplish It’s all in ONE place for easy reference! Grows and shortens as you work through items Posted in a common place so you don’t FORGET your tasks ORGANIZATIONAL scheduling tool Can be a “not-to-do” list

3 WHY?? Reduce stress by prioritizing tasks
Remind yourself of what’s important and what needs to get done It can be fun! Playing with the list can help you think outside of the box for solutions

4 HOW?? Write down what you need to for the upcoming week
Focus on why each task is important to you Think about what rewards you expect after completing each task List when each task needs to be completed Cross off items and celebrate their completion!

Grocery List After you have prioritized all of your tasks, write them all on one sheet of paper (numbered from most important to least important) Post-it Notes Write your tasks on different colored post-it notes with each color corresponding to the importance of the task

Electronic To-do List Certain cell phones, mp3 players, address sites (like Yahoo or Comcast), and computers have electronic to-do lists that one can create When you’re checking a text, listening to music, logging onto your computer, or reading your , you can glance at your to-do list and make sure you are on point

Day Planner/Personal Organizer Buy a day planner to keep track of all the tasks you must accomplish week to week Calendar In an electronic or paper calendar, list all the tasks you must complete under the day which they must be completed by Make sure you make this your “To-Do List Calendar” and keep a separate calendar for events, birthdays, etc.

Notebook Keep a notebook of what you have to do for the next week or month (one page for each day) Review the page that corresponds to the current day when you wake up every morning

9 CREATE YOUR OWN! Now that you know WHAT a to-do list is, WHY you should spend some of your valuable time making one, and HOW you go about writing one, it’s time for you to make your OWN!! PLEASE FILL OUT THE CORRESPONDING WORKSHEET TO RECEIVE CREDIT FOR THIS WORKSHOP
