 I open the door at and class begins at 8:30. I will be caring for children before class and cannot open early this year. We are required by the school to mark your child tardy if they are more than 10 minutes late, and absent if they do not attend class.  I ask that you do not arrive before class time. Thank you for understanding.  When class is finished, I will dismiss each child individually as to not cause any confusion. When I see you have arrived I will call your child over to the door, as you wait outside. I believe this will keep any confusion or chaos from happening at the end of the school hour. Your child cannot meet you outside or anywhere else in the building. This is for their safety.  The school gives a 10 minute grace period for pick-up. After those 10 minutes, your child will be taken to the front office and will be waiting for you there with a CPCS staff person. The office will try to contact you. They will also appreciate you making contact if you know you are going to be late. Drop off and Pick up

 Be kind and respectful.  Use good manners and gentle words.  Be a super listener.  Walk please.  Use an inside voice.  Please read the behavior guidelines to your child. Knowing what is expected gives your child confidence. Classroom Rules

 Our classes are earning marbles in our marble jar for listening, co-operation, acts of kindness and sharing, and good effort. When our marble apple is full, we will have a Marble Fun Day and have special treats.   If your child is not co-operating and needs a time to calm down, I will set him/her in a time-out chair for a few minutes, and then talk to your child about what the expected behavior is. Then your child will return to the group. Hitting or hurting another child intentionally will result in an immediate time out. My students usually need very few time outs.   “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6  Discipline

Show and Tell Pre3s Our 3 Year olds will begin Show and Tell in October. Your child will have an opportunity to share every other week. Each child will work on Stage Presence and introducing himself and his special item to the class. Pre 4s Our 4 Year olds will b e gin in October too. They will be bringing items for our Letter Basket that match the Letter of the week. For example, if we were working on the letter Bb, your child could bring a bear, a bee, a basket, a beaver, a balloon, a book, or any other item that begins with B. This will reinforce our learning. They will have a chance to share every if they bring an item…one item at a time, please.

 Check our website to see our plans  if we have a snow day.  For emergency information please call Cedar Park at 425-337-6992.  We follow the Everett School District closures for all snow or weather-related closures. If schools are running 2 hours late, then there will be no morning classes.  Weather and School Emergencies

When a child is Sick  Sickness includes fever, runny noses with yellow discharge, coughing, vomiting, or excessive sleepiness. If your child displays any of these symptoms, he or she should NOT attend class until symptoms have been clear for at least 24 hours. Illness spreads quickly in a preschool class (including to the teacher). We want to keep our class as healthy as possible.  If your child contracts a communicable disease, such as lice, pink eye, chicken pox, etc. please contact us as soon as possible. We would like to contain the condition as quickly as possible. 

Communication Please check your child’s file that is found outside the classroom daily. They will contain any important information and school communiqués, finished work, etc. Read the classroom board daily for reminders. If you have any questions or concerns regarding our class or any questions concerning CPCSE, please feel free to contact me via the school office at 425-337-6992 or via email at Leone.StClair@cedarpark.org. I am usually able to check my email once in the mornings and once in the afternoon. My home phone is 206-919-6043. It is truly such a blessing and privilege to share in the life of your child. God has amazing plans for your child and I look forward to the growth of character and confidence you see in them this year. I am also looking forward to the opportunity to know your family better and encourage you to participate as much as possible in this great community.

 I love help! Your help truly makes a difference in your child’s education and school experience. Here are ways you can help:  Stay at the 8:30 – 9:00 time and help with craft projects  Help keep the classroom clean by taking home toys to disinfect  Become a Room Parent and help plan and run classroom parties  Take home papers to cut or prepare  File for the teacher and free up more time for quality teaching  Come in and present a little Show and Tell about your work or hobby,  if it is applicable.   I want this to be a fun and successful year. Let me know how you would like to help. Helpers

 Throughout the year, we will be holding field trips to enhance our learning activities in the classroom. The field trips will be theme oriented and provide a wide variety of “hands on” experiences. It is required that all children are driven by their own parent or guardian and that that person remains throughout the field trip. Class will meet at, and dismiss from the field trip site. Information on specific field trips will be given out as soon as possible. We know that you have schedules too!  If you are unable to bring your child maybe a nanny, grandparent, aunt, uncle, or another parent in class is willing to bring your child and take care of them during the field trip. The Pre-4’s and Pre-3’s class  field trips are combined with the Pre-kindergarten. Our  first Field Trip is to the Pumpkin Farm on Wednesday  October 2 nd. Details will be sent home next week. Field Trips

 If your child would like to celebrate his or her birthday with their friends at school, a special “treat” (mini cupcake, cookie, ice cream, fruit, etc.) may be sent to school. Please provide enough treats for the entire class, and let me know ahead of time if you plan to send a treat. We would like to encourage children with summer birthdays to celebrate their “half” birthday or an “early” birthday the last month of school. Birthdays!

 Our class will celebrate several holidays this year. The parties usually last about 45 minutes. Joining the class is a good way to share a happy memory with your child and I hope you will take advantage and participate when a Room Parent contacts you. Please keep in mind these celebrations will remain Christian in nature. Let’s celebrate Jesus and our family that we love!  Holidays

 Each day we will have a time set aside for snack time. Each child is asked to bring his or her own water bottle with their name on it. If your child forgets their drink they will be given a cup for water. If your child has any food allergies please let me know ASAP. Snack Time

  A jacket or sweater is a must every day…our mornings can be chilly and the weather is changeable.   Please take your child to the bathroom before class. Thanks.   It is going to be a great year!  Your child’s proud teacher,  Leone St. Clair  Additional Notes
