2 Course Information Prerequisite: Principles of Business and Finance Foundation and completer course in the Business Management and Administration Cluster This course is highly recommended for 11 th and 12 th graders.

5 In this course we will investigate: How to recognize management’s role to understand its contribution to business success. How to apply ethics to demonstrate trustworthiness. How to acquire a foundational understanding of knowledge management to understand its nature and scope. How to understand the role and function of human resources management to obtain a foundational knowledge of its nature and scope. How to utilize critical- thinking skills to determine best options and outcomes.

11 Late Work O rganizational habits are a must in our society. In the world of business if you are late with your work, your employment could be terminated. Late work is not accepted in college, either. This is an advanced course and all work is expected to be turned in when due. If you are having trouble, please see me and we will discuss your concerns and options.

12 Tips for a successful semester 1. Use different colored ink for notes taken each day of the week. Read through your notes each night. 2. Write down important concepts. For example, vocabulary, ideas, descriptions. 3. Outline material studied in class. 4. Come to class every day. 5. Bring all necessary materials to class 6. Check Google Classroom for updates daily.

15 Guidelines to Follow Bring notebook to class everyday Dress appropriately Report any damage to class materials and technology immediately Limit your movement and talking Keep your space neat and clean Use Internet as directed; it is a privilege Electronic devices are prohibited unless in use as a part of teacher-directed classroom activities (cell phones, iPods, etc.)

16 More Guidelines Enter classroom quietly and be seated in your assigned seat before the bell rings. Do NOT stand at my door watching or hollering as people walk by. Be quiet during announcements and visitors. Ask if you have questions. Keep food, candy and drinks in your backpack; only water is allowed. Follow all school and classroom rules.

17 Guidelines (cont’d) Cell phones should remain silent and invisible (refer to policy on syllabus) Avoid scented products Teacher dismisses class Sleep at home, work in class Restroom use limited – don’t ask while I’m teaching; only 3 people allowed to go to restroom during any class period. Personal business/discussions should be handled outside of class
