GMS Team Started in 1982 with Rec Competitive team since 1984 Benefits of competition and team – Team unity – Self motivation – Perseverance – Gives gymnasts a goal to work toward – Time management and accountability – Learn how to deal with failure and success – Learn how to appreciate benefits of hard work

4. Skill Requirements GMS follows the USAG guidelines for progressions ( manual) Requirements change every other Olympic year. Our program follows the USAG requirements both for team and Rec gymnastics

7. Shooting Stars Designed to prepare gymnasts ages 5-6 for high level gymnasts Accelerated learning and focus of form and strength Demonstrate in mini meets Practice 1.5 to 3 hours weekly in the summer Fall- 1 to 2 hours in the Fall

Pre-Team 1, 2,3 First of the House team programs Divided into 3 groups based on gymnasts age and ability, maturity, group dynamics Designed to prepare gymnasts for competitions and higher skills levels Focus on form, strength, flexibility, proper technique of basic skills Skills checklist is passed down from our level 9 and 10 head coach Practice 6 hours in summer, 5 hours in Fall

13. House vs. Travel House TeamTravel Competes in 2 in house non sanctioned meets Leotard required Competes in mostly home and local meets, state meet may be in VA beach, usually is Leotard and warm ups required Assessment fees ( go toward coaches expenses and travel) required Assessment amounts correspond to competition frequency, may vary year to year depending on budget Competitions are mandatory

14. Travel Information Bronze team usually compete in 5 meets a year- 3 home meets and 2 away, if they qualify to the State Meet it may add one meet. Meets are typically once a month starting in December or January. Away meets are not far, they are typically local Woodbridge, Chantilly, Fredericksburg, etc.. State meets are usually in VA Beach Meets are mandatory unless they interfere with a family vacation or preplanned event.

15. Fees There are certain fees associated with being on a travel team. These include: Meet fees- Fees due per meet the gymnasts attend. Fee goes to host gym for judges, awards, insurance etc. Range from $75.00 to $120.00 per meet. They are not all due at the same time, they have due dates in which the team mom will notify families of.

16. Fees (cont) Booster Fees: BGBC There are fees due to cover coaches expenses and general travel team expenses, holiday gifts, end of year banquet and gift, summer kick off party, Fall pep rally, team events. (see budget) Assessment ( Booster fees) – XCEL Bronze fees for 2016= 650.00 ( estimated) These fees are due in 5 installments Families are encouraged to fundraise throughout the year to go toward assessments

17. Placement Placement is determined by head coach and recommendation of current coaches We try to place gymnasts where we feel they will be the most successful Summer schedules begin in July through August 27 th Fall schedules will be out in June Students will be reevaluated in August for 2016-2017 placement, it may change from summer placement
